I think your swingarm definitely needs some support. The arms were never designed to run without the support of the twin shocks, so it will flex with verticle loads and with side loads. I suspect it will fail soon. That would be bad!

This is from the AHRMA rulebook, but clearly shows that it isn't hard to do. Since you don't have to meet the rules, I would use larger diameter tubing.

It's in the works.

Re: 79 Honda CM400T - Nerdsports Racer

Nice work so far. Looks like it will turn out great. Just a note on the exhaust. I did a bit of reading when I was doing my build and found that open pipes will make you loose power from the midrange because of the lack of pressure. It is caused by a reverb pulse getting to the end of the pipe and turning back around and halting the other pulses. It can be tuned out some what but still has no where near the potential of a muffler.
I know it sounds dumb but there are a few videos with dino results around. Check out a shorty muffler or even just make your own.

I'm aware of this as well. I was going to add baffles to each pipe just before the collector to quite them down and create some back pressure. My last weak attempt at finding baffles for 1.5" tube wasn't successful.

POW! Backpressure. Needed them for my KZ550 when I did 4-4 pipes. ;)

Looks awesome, love the CL style exhaust! Wish our locations weren't so far apart, would be cool to get together and shoot our two cm's together.

Working on giving the exhaust tubes a seamless look. A lot more work than I imagined.

Dropped off the tank and tail with the painter today. I honestly don't know when they'll be ready but the rest of the bike will be ready to go when they're back.
