i traded a basket case vt500c to a cool guy that rebuilds vintage mopeds. he's had this bike since feb, and it looked like he had plenty of small cc projects. he wanted a real motorcycle. his father in law does some sort of old school stuff to bikes, so the vt really will work out for him, i think. i made sure he knew everything i knew about that mess of a bike before we took each other's projects.
so then i had this:
within the next day or two, it looked like this:
i went through it and gave it a good looking at. the battery is dead, but it can run fine without it. the tires are both dead. one of the exhaust pipes has a dent in it:
here is how it sits now:
i tried to adjust the way the bike sits to provide a semi accurate reprisentation of the stance once it is re-shoed
i havent bought anything for it yet. ratpunk has offered to give me some clubman bars, so hell yeah.
im looking around to see where i can get tires, the dent fixed in the pipe, and find out what else i need to do.
a little back story; in the past year there have been 2 other bike projects of mine that were both a bit too ambitious, so, i'm thinking of bringing it to patrick and the gang at motorcycles unlimited so that i dont screw it up again
i'm taking the tank to an eventual bare metal. there arent any dings that draw attention, so it might look good with just some clear on the metal.
i'll keep the side covers for now, but eventual plans are to run on a pod filter or velocity stack, and to get a much smaller battery, and have the triangular areas opened up.
i have already hacked up the seat. do i regret it? yeah, maybe a little. i found a guy on ebay that does custom brat seats for cheaper than most other places, but it's not so desperately cheap that it looks fishy. i might take it to an upholstery shop (ladies? know any good upholstery shops?)
but this thing right here sure looks damn classy.
DAMN CLASSY.
and what else... i dont know. i have the other tidbits from my last 2 flops. the acewell gauge, the led strip tail light, and the led bar ends.
i was telling myself that i would wait until i had something to post, but damnit... it's late, i'm bored, in the garage with my almost 2 year old, and she is not in any sleeping mood.
