'95 Ducati 900ss- her name is Giada!!!!

bunnyman

Been Around the Block
Here's the bike, I named her after Giada DE Laurentis, my FAVOURITE chick on the Food Channel:

DSCN0575.jpg

Yes, I get all jiggly in the knees when I look at this bike just like when I see Giada on the TV!!!!!

I haven't decided what to do headlight and fairing-wise. There is quite a bit of electrical crap that is normally hidden by the fairing. Maybe a 7" headlight bucket could hide all of the crap. I am kind of at a loss at this point for how to hide it all.

This one is a sweet, sweet girl- she only has 6800 miles on her and begs to be ridden angrily!!! I found myself going 85 mph in 4th gear!!!!

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

Ebay for parts.

But the whole idea of the bike is to be "naked" can you make the wires look good exposed?

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

I didn't see the third pic, but I like the V-rod headlight. I wonder how much crap I can hide inside of the bucket?

I am partial to the blue and silver bike.

I will not hide the beauty of this bike with too many body parts.

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

Here is the upper stripped, and DON'T bust my balls about the mirrors back on for now while I ride it a bit:

Proper bar end mirrors will go on in due time.

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

i own a very non-stock ss. if you are letting anything go - parts wise, let me know will ya?

I run mine with the quarter fairing most of the time, with the full fairings in storage. FYI, you know all the 2v monster stuff (aftermarket) bolts right on right?

Just do me and all the other hard-core duc guys a favor and don't kill this limited production beast beyond recognition... lol...

I think there were less than 500 imported in 95... oh - and check your headstock area for cracks and or repairs.. a weak spot on the pre 96 frames, and some of the 96's as well. although these do wheelies in their sleep, something to keep in mind.

oh - and joe. it's an L-twin. Not that wimpy wee twin design... ;D

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

I love that bike man, it can be a really cool and unique fighter! I would steer away from the V-rod headlight! It looks bad ass, and all the examples of it Joe posted look great, and I am sure it would look great on that duck too, but that light seems to be becoming the norm for fighters! I like to be different, that is what a custom is! Find something outside the box, no V-rod, transformer light, or alien light! There are some old bikes that had 8 in buckets and lamps, but I have been thinking, about something that I think would rock on this bike, and solve your hiding wire problem.
Find a car headlight, something small, I have been trying to find a Mini-cooper light

then make a fiberglass cowl 1/4 or mini fairing to go around it! May have a little trouble figuring out the wiring, but it can be done! Oh, open it up and pull the amber cover out, let that be constant on with the key and it will be like a parking light! Now that is something you won't see the hipsters running around with, only a builders can pull that off!

I will not turn this into something silly, and I want to pay tribute to the trellis frame. I just think this thing is sooooo damned sexy without full body work that I am not going to bother searching for the lost lowers. I do have an upper I am willing to part with in great shape...

Mine is an SP with the numbers "527" on the triple.

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

Hey, if you are still thinking of the car headlights, check the porsche 911 or 993 from the 1996 models! Both are cool lights that you could do a "modern-retro" look fairing from! I think it would look sick! and no one else has one!

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

I dont think you could hide that wiring in a headlight. That is shit that should be under the seat. Fuse panel connectors froma tractor trailer. I would be doing some moving.

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

Maybe check out the Ducati Monsters and see where they have all the electrics hidden. Essentially the same bike (engine / frame wise), but naked.

I may go that route, but I just want something different, you know?

Nice looking bikes, by the way.

Not much room for anything but a dimebag under the seat, any ways ;)

Maybe some moving is in order...

Maybe if the local Duc dealer would let me take a quick looksy... Even if I could get my paws onto a shop manual or something.

Re: '95 Ducati 900ss!!!!

I bought a Buell XB-series fairing to try on for size. If I like the way it looks, I may mould myself a new version and sell the used one I just bought. I am thinking that it may cover up just what I need covered, and with some modifications to the fairing brackets and some new projectors, it will do what I need and look cool. If nothing else, I can put the Buell fairing back on ebay and sell it to somebody, right?
