A Kiwi build from scratch

Too bad RAD aren't cooperating with info :( Really, buying a supermoto 17 x 5.5 wheel would be your cheapest option then make your own axle, spacers etc.
I have given them another shot. Emailed them again my request. only after two measurments really, will see what response I get from them. They are a nice bit of kit

what a lazy bunch of f#@ktards. Got an email back asking me for my dimensions??? really?? they must not really want to sell their product. I emailed them with all my intentions and said it was not for a standard fit. cant win, I dont have my dimensions, I need to know theres to see if I can make it fit. Thanks RADMFG, you have been super helpful

Might these be an option? They're Cagiva Gran Canyon wheels, later model Navigator are much the same.....happy to take any measurements that might help....

That's too bad that you can't get RAD to get you the info you need. I guess we blackball them then ;D I still think a 5.5" supermoto wheel would do the job. You can adjust the rim offset easily enough and like I said make spacers/axle too suit your swinging arm.

cheers Uncle, I have come up with plan B. I have found a complete V Storm rim complete with everything, axle caliper etc so I have purchased that. I will get the RAD hub begrudgingly but only the hub, i will get the rims and spokes off Cognitomoto, that guy is all good in my books. have emailed him a couple of times and always responds back in a reasonable time even if he isnt going to make a sale. customer service right there!! this will in fact save me some time modifiying the gixxer stuff anyway, now I can just modify the Buell swingarm to take this hub

I am going to go with the 5.5 and 3.5 rims. I have looked at supermoto rims in NZ, but nobody does a 5.5. so I think this way is my best option for the project

the other side of the coin here is with this rim, I dont have to shell out thousands of dollars yet when the wheels are last on my list

yeah johnu, going with those. had a look at the HD rims also but I think I will go with these, cognito stocks/sells them too

OK then, thinking a bit more about the rims I decided to get a rear rim so I can start the mock up of the rear swing arm, and then get my chain alignment bang on. Found a local wrecker with a V storm rim and all the other bits, so shelled out some duckets and then a box of dirty bits turned up.

I didn't put two and two together, I have heard of the Barber Vintage Festival, just didn't now it was in Alabama. I have will definitely be heading there one day on my next trip state side. I have been following the progress of one of the most iconic motorcycle names to come out of New Zealand, the Britten Motorcycle. Barber Vintage Museum has the current largest ever collection of 9 out of the 10 Britten's ever built, there for this weekend, if you haven't seen these works of art, it as an absolute must!! John Britten was so far ahead of his time and was the main reason I wanted to build a bike. The Britten V1000 was completely designed and built by John in his garage in Christchurch NZ.
the first pic below is at the Barber Museum posted early this week I think

I saw these running around the Cemetery circuit in Wanganui, Miles ahead! John's passing was a great loss.

It was for sure. Taken way to early. It's a pitty the plans for turning these into a road bike never got off the ground. I think it would have been a world beater for sure!
I watched these at the Classics at Pukekohe a few months back, unreal to see these running there. I havent been to the the Cemetry circuit for few years now, wife gets a bit shitty when the boys head off on a ride Christmas day

and the new bits

Yeah it's been around 20yrs since I last went, These days I live in Melbourne so even harder ;) I do get lucky with WSBK at Phillip island falling on my Birthday weekend and a nice gap to Moto Gp so I get that weekend too ;D How good would it be to have the Britten's in the WSBK 8)

That would be epic! I remember watching the doco about the Britten when he took it to the US for the first time and competed against the Ducati's and Stroudy smoked em all. We are planning to go to Phillip Is next year for the MotoGP. watch Rossis last year on the factory M1
