I had two days off in a row! Now that's some rare business 'round these parts!
I decided last night to just suck it up and buy the mikuni 26mm carb (swap straight in), so that'll be with me either tomorrow or wednesday.. I'm stoked to get any bit of quality material on this thing.. you'll see what I mean further down the post..
I committed to painting the continued line from the tank, both ways.. so that's where I started. Turned out pretty nice, though no pics of finished product just yet.
Here's my slightly better than eyeballing technique..
I already stripped and low polished the fender, so I thought it'd be better to do the black in reverse as I needed to paint the remaining silver to match it up.
The rear cowl I did the obvious way.. Surprisingly it turned out balls the first time around.. so I've re-done it since. Painting is pretty bloody hard to get perfect!
Received these mid last week.. so I endeavored to fit them in place of my damaged stock ones..
All was going well, until.............
Well that's one expensive mistake.. Called ikonic perth to organise a replacement hub.. they don't have one, and the next shipment containing them will be 3 months away. Oh wait! They do have a complete wheel/hub/tire they'd be happy to sell me for $300! (that's a no, sir.)
I called Phil @ lightfoot, and he gave me the idea to search up a CB100 hub online, to refurb and re-spoke to fit, as we have discovered a bunch of direct design copying between the bikes.
Well I just did one better..
Ebay seller 'vintage avenue' sells aftermarket replacement hubs (with bushes installed!) for CB100's
$90 inc shipping with tracking number, 7-20 days.
I'll get Phil to lace it up, and bob's your uncle! That's a massive saving of time, money and stress.. Huzzah!
Anyway, that's my story.. Thanks for listening Tom!
