Hey, She is up for BOTM this month. If you think she is worthy give her a vote! If you think one of the other two are more worthy, Give them a vote. Either way GO VOTE!!!
Well the bike won August botm, which I'm super pumped about! Thanks for all you guys who voted! Figured I'd better take a few pics for the banner, so I might as well share them here too.
A long dead thread resurrected. The bike has been pretty well moth balled and in storage since 2017. Decided to pull it out and get it running again. There's a few oil leaks to address, as well as the carbs needing a good going through. Battery is dead flat and the Chinese copy turn signals are pretty floppy. My son (3.5) is ready to ride around some back roads and the family farm on something bigger than the sl70 as well.
Carb rebuild with new jets, fuel line and filters and a fresh battery and she came back to life.
I think the jetting still needs a bit of tweaking, but the airbox boot is in a bad way and hard, making it a real pain to get on and sealed, so I'll likely go with a quality set of uni filters, so I won't mess much with the jetting until then. The petcock is still leaking like a garden hose as well, but in leu of another rebuild, I plan to adapt a manual petcock and be done with this vacuum operated unit once and for all.
It needs a deep clean as well, but still a handsome looking bike imho.
When my boys were your son's age I replaced my handlebars with scrambler bars. They would ride in front of me either on the seat or the gas tank and hang on to the handlebar brace. I taught them to move with my movements and we rode for hours often in a big circle in one of the pastures.
