Hey guys,
I have been lurking on the board here for about 3 months now and my status keeps telling me i'm in the closet, so to right this wrong, I thought I had better post something!
As the subject line suggests, I live in Australia and am a bit of a bike (and car) fanatic. I love getting out on the road and track on my current stable of bikes and recently I have become interested in the whole cafe racer scene (and also rat bikes, bobbers etc etc).
After being scared off by caferacernet (one click was all it took to be disturbed at how critical they seem!) I came across DTT through Pipeburn and you all seem like a good bunch of people who share a common interest and a wealth of information. Here's hoping I can add my 2 cents worth!
I currently have a few toys in the shed including a 2009 Triumph Speed Triple, 2009 Kawasaki ZX6R Monster Edition and a Honda CT110 'Postie Bike'.
'09 Speed Triple
'09 ZX6R
'03 Honda CT110 'Postie Bike'
Each of these have varying levels of mods, the Triumph has new exhaust, filter, mirror, seat cowl and various carbon goodies, the ZX6R is destined to be a dedicated track bike and presently is stripped down awaiting new fibreglass race fairings and the CT110, funnily enough is the most modified of the bunch! Fellow Aussies on here will appreciate the comedic value of modifying a bike like this!
The ZX6R as it stands at the moment:
Having read through a bunch of build threads and being inspired in particular by Ringo's Le Mans Special, I thought it was high time to have a crack at this cafe racer building business, so after a bit of searching and outlaying a tiny amount of cash, I jumped in the deep end and purchased this bucket of magnificence....a lovely '77 Yamaha XS360!
The latest victim:
As you can see, she really is a sad old girl, but in the coming months i'll hopefully be lavishing her with a bit of much needed attention (in between setting up the race bike, playing with the Speed Triple and tinkering with the daily rider....) to bring her back to life!
I am hoping to start a comprehensive build thread soon, once I get things underway and am looking forward to getting your feedback and input on the build.
Until then, I just wanted to say g'day and introduce myself, cheers!
