I agree with closing nominations and giving it to Gretta. I'd rather look at the other bikes in another month when I actually might vote for them. They are all great builds but Gretta and Kiley have earned the honor I think. This was sort of a ground breaking build for DTT.

My .02

Although I agree with ya Diesel, your judgment is in serious question after the "handsome" comment in my build thread. :D

I'd go along with that. While I certainly appreciate my bike having been nominated, Gretta is really in a league of its own.

I would have thought, given that 99% of our membership live in societies ruled by democratic principles, that the notion of nominations and voting would be the right way to go with something as straightforward as a Bike of the Month contest.

If we only end up with 1 bike nominated for the April 2010 BOTM because:

a) nobody else nominates a bike or
b) none of the other nominees accept the nomination

then yep - the 1 nominated bike will obviously sweep the votes.

So, if nobody wants to run against Gretta for April 2010 BOTM, then just don't accept the nominations.

The very few and basic rules we put in place around this monthly contest allow for this - no reason for me to 'close' the nominations and award the BOTM. If in a week or so we end up with only 1 nominee, then the contest will close and the BOTM will be awarded to that bike.

I'm honestly a little tired of discussing and re-discussing the rules around BOTM. Did you build it, does it run, how much it cost, what color is it.... who cares?

If you like a bike - nominate it. I don't care if it runs, has 1 wheel or 10, if it cost $1 or $1,000,000. If you feel it's worthy and want to put your name against the nomination then go for it! If the owner of the bike wants to accept the nomination, and another member wants to 2nd the nomination, then it's part of the contest. If not, it ain't.

And then we all get to vote (I don't vote just so you know).

So please, let's stick to the basic process 'cause it's taking more of my time than I can afford.

GRETTA!!!! BFT, ive been waiting for this day, i cant wait to log in and see that in the upper left for 30 days straight.

so does that mean my cb500 does not win? :'(
man she even ran strong... for 10 - 15 seconds last night.... but they wher a SOLID couple of seconds! i mean even used the custom blow black smoke ability that she naturally has....

If it's not Gretta, you'll get my vote!

This is a pretty darn nice bike, and I think deserves some credit. Here's to you, Vince!

I'd be proud to own this bike, awsome!

Many thanks guys. It is the best bike I've ever owned, and it's currently the only bike I own. This year I'm riding it back out to Mid-Ohio for Vintage Motorcycle Days (about 1000 mile round trip). That is one very nice thing about this small bike -- it is ridden, and it is very nice to ride - particularly for long distances.

The finished product is the result of many helping hands - I'm merely the ideas/concept man (and the wallet!). People who are much more talented than I could ever be did the much of the actual work, if that makes any difference.
