Aussie 1982 CB750 DOHC - First Build

i was wondering the same, no cushion drive, it has to be an mx hub,i dont think a non cushion hub is a great idea :-[

It's off an Aprilia RXV550.
As for the loss of cushion drive, I'm not afraid of trying different things on this build, even if it doesn't work, I'll still learn something.
I'm not viewing it as a one-pass build, I'll be more than happy to revise, redesign and rebuild as I get the opportunity to properly test it.

I was under the same impression. However, I am very curious to see how it goes as it seems a few builds I follow are utilizing a more supermoto type wheel setup, hubs included.

So went to pick up my hubs from the powder coater... Rear hub had been incorrectly masked so needs to be redone. The front (which is one of cognito motos customs) has been dropped and has multiple dents in it!
Not happy, but will hold their name to see how the job gets rectified. I'm unhappy nonetheless.
But I have been keeping myself amused putting a GB400 together for a bloke.

Just spent a couple of hours learning to lace wheels.
I'll leave the truing to someone with more skill and patience than me though.

I would like to see how that little battery does, I have heard the dohc is a bit of a pig to start, so that's why it had such a huge battery. I am looking for a smaller one to run in it that can be mounted under the tail on its side or something

Freb - I'll be happy to let you know how it goes. I bought it directly from the Shorai rep so I won't hesitate to send it back if it doesn't do the job.
Teazer - 17x3.5 and 17x5.5

thats why a friend of mine sold his CB900, for no good reason it just wouldn't start, then the next day it would....just got sick of it

then he bought a 1959 Triumph 500 a couple of years ago.....and so far the only bits of it that haven't been rebuilt/replaced are the frame and wheels (and that can only be a matter of time)

I'm running an 8 cell Ballistic under the tail on mine. Spins it over ridiculously easy. It's tiny, and weighs just over a pound.

Subscribed. There went my Sunday morning. Amazing build man. Wish I had some of your skills/tools. Looks like it's getting close, can't wait to see how she turns out.

Thanks guys! Yeah definitely feels like the home stretch.
I've got to put aside a solid few hours to tackle the wiring and then that's the last of the major jobs!

I also found a tank in better condition on eBay so will get that shipped up this week.

Here's a full shot.

Some might notice the rear shock has been swapping back and forth. I've been trying to figure out the best approach with the rear. First option involves running a solid mount (link less) with a custom made spring and valved shock. The second is to go linked which enables the use of a standard shock.
So I have shocks out of an R1 and a VTR1000 to play around with different lengths for the geometry.
Although I know I'm a long way into a build to be still pondering on this there are pros and cons for both so trying to work out what works best for me and the bike.

I am leaning towards linked due to how hard it has been to be able to properly calculate correct spring rates on a link-less system and also to find someone who can commit to be able to make a spring for that combo.

So now trying to calculate geometry including position of the anchor for the dogbone link to the frame.

As always I'm open to ideas, opinions, links etc so please throw them forward if you're reading!
