Beachcomber's Tales from the day

I'm back on the book now , health issues and "life" [ as in domestic ] got inthe way - both knocking me sidewise for a few years. HOWEVER - this book MUST be completed, it is the amalgam of 60 + years of first hand experiences, - none of this " he said, she said" bullshit.

However, a segway story ............................................................

"Starry, starry night" ........ no not a nod to Vincent or even a romantic interlude.

There I was, staring up at a beautiful nght sky over beautiful downtown Redditch ..................... gentle rain falling on my face .......................................... ahhhhhhh .

oh fuckit, where's the roof of my garage gone !!!!!

Yes, after years of neglect my old garage roof finally caved in.

On the plus side all my neighbours pulled together and replaced the rotten timbers and put new roofing felt on. They refused to take any money for the labour - just had to pay for the materials - £400 ..... could have done without that at this paricular stage in my life, but on the plus side I now have a DRY garage to work in for the first time in 15 years.

Happy Burns Night to all my DTT pals ............. from Clan Crawford

Happy Burns Night to all my DTT pals ............. from Clan Crawford

Clan Crawford...I have Scottish Crawford's in my lineage.

"Not a lot of people know that" ............ apologies to Micheal Caine.

The Tales have been languishing in my out tray for some years now ....... time to make my excuses.

First off - the Book will happen, but I'ts now a slow job.

I have had serious medical issues in the past 4 years, including a return of my kidney issues and a brief flirtation with bowel cancer.

More seriously for me, MrsB 3rd decided to fuck off [ 2016 ] ....... there then followed 3 years of a toxic and subsequently expensive divorce.

One or two ni this parish knew about it, but I didn't want to make a public announcement - and yes it did hurt.

Good news is that my health issues are resolved, the house assets will be divvied up next year and I have a couple of new lady friends.

I will get back into the Tales as soon as the dust settles and then it will become a priority .... I'm 80 next year for fuck's sake - not a lot of time left, especially as I have to move house [ one of the ladyfriends ] and complete my last 2 projects.

So apologies to all that have been waiting for me to pull my finger out, finger coming out soon ..............................................

Beach!!! Glad to hear from ya Man!
And while I'm certain you've figured this out already... never Flirt with Bowel Cancer! Sure she sounds mysterious and exotic, but in the end she's really just a huge a pain in the ass!
(kind of a triple double entendre there :p)

Many thanx for your concern .............. pretty well out of the woods now [ health ] - just the house sale, divying up and moving 60 years of accumulated "stuff" to my girlfriend's house - all before November this year, then I can resume what's left of my life.

Glad to hear the health is improved and it sounds like you've got plenty of life in you yet :)

Any of my Overseas pals into the TV Series "Peaky Blinders" ? Set in Birmingham from 1918 on starring Cillian Murphy.

A lot of the series is filmed in and around Birmingham where the story is based. A lot of the filming features a scrap yard and canals / narrowboats.

The location is the Black Country Museum and features heavilly throughout the series.

I visited it a few weeks ago, strange to see the location sets first hand !

Ketchup time ................. health issues now fully resolved and my girlfriend that I am moving in with in November has bought me a 10' x 6' shed / workshop, the largest she could get in her garden space. Most of my tools and important stuff has been moved over and the Boardtracker tribute bike [ in parts ] is going over tomorrow. The Glamseck KZ750 Cafe Racer will remain at my build buddies [ Brian ] garage where we will continue to work on it.

I'm hoping that once I am fully settled life will continue unabated and I can get back to completing my 2 books.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the pals I have met via this site, for their inspiration, support and friendship ..... means a lot and helped me through the dark patches in my life.

It was my middle daughter's 40th at the weekend and I was fortunate to have all my girls present for a family birthday lunch on Saturday.

On Sunday I went to one of our local parklands to see the new Royal Enfield sculpture ....... pity the forks are back to front and the wrong angle, but the guy's a sculptor, not a motorcyclist !

As I'm sure most of you know Royal Enfield was based in Redditch and was one of the largest employers in the town [ also arms ].

I'm only moving 17 miles away, but these gems are currently on my doorstep, so taking advantage while I can.
