Are those shocks the stock length? Stock length shocks, but I cut the frame just beyond where the two tubes intersect. A tube joins the two and holds the shock mounts. The mounts are a little bit higher this way and it kinda cleans up the triangle. Also, I didn't want it to look like I just cut the back end of the bike off. The shock mounts on your frame is a tad different. I think mine were lower on the rail.
I just started something similar last night. I'm going to try to build a girder fork for it. That will be wicked

Anyhow, a little bit of progress. Chrisf is working on a swingarm and by the sounds of it I may have it by the end of the week! ;D
I found a killer deal on ebay and had to go for it. Got this baby pretty cheap for what it is.
Real alligator done in a slimline profile.
I'll have to wait to see fitment.

I thought about going with a prefab seat pan and use camping pad from wallworld. I was going to use spray adheasive to mount the pad, then cover it with leather and mount with brass rivits. And you can pick up scrap leather from a bunch of places for dirt cheap. Check out the pans that this guy makes for $40. I've also decided to do the brat/bobber style for my XS650. I have been riding my bike since the spring and do not care for the riding position of my clubmans. I want to do the hardtail but trying to keep the build price reasonable. Keep the pics coming, looking forward to your build.

I saw that you had a change of heart in your build thread. You've got a great looking scoot there, but i understand where you are comming from. Spend some time looking at the lines and how you want it to look and ride. Then figure out the best route to get there. Have you thought about bratstyle? I'll have to admit though that I love the xs 650s and I got part of my inspirtation from a couple of them. Keep posting on that build. Will be cool to see what you end up with.
