I'll send you a pm tonight, man that would be wicked!

Oh man, I didn't mean to come off as insensitive. So sorry to hear about the job. I was just so stoked about your offer that I just now caught on about the day time work. That really sucks but hopefully something will come along real quick.

No worries my friend.
It's been rough around the shop for a while and since the boss is a tool, won't promote, expects work to drop in his lap etc etc....I was already contemplating a change. He got wound up yesterday and took a swing at me. Didn't work out. I'm 6'1" and a solid 240 (think gymrat) and he's.....old. I told him to pound sand and am presently collecting all my tools and bits that happen to be here.

As for the machining.....hell yeah! I'll look forward to your PM and we'll work out the details!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Damn brother, guy must be an idiot! Make sure to get all of your tools. Hopefully he doesn't try to stand in the way. I know how hard it is sometimes to walk away from somone being stupid. I wish you all the best.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

I guess since this bike is still evolving I need to post this update here. Got the rear tire mounted and the newly painted headlight bucket. Even though it is misting rain/snow mix I rolled her outside for a couple of photos. I can't wait to put her down the road again. Hopefully next week.
I'm really stoked about everything done lately and can't wait to get the front rim painted. I was going to wait till winter but the back turned out sooo nice and I think it added atleast 10 years to the bike. Maybe I can sneak it in this weekend.
Here ya go:
You can see tiny beads of water, lol.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Such a beautiful bike, Troy! I'd live to give lacing a try (on the next build) but I just don't have any idea how to.

Got anymore plans for this one?

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Thanks guys. Compliments are greatly appreciated.
I think the tires along with the black rims does make it look older. The scroll tread detail on the side of the tire is real nice. I think it helps the tire look old. I'm really liking the look.

Hey Goodfornothing, again thanks for the kind words. well, I've been back and fourth on a wider front rim. I've almost ruled it out now because I think the rim I have not only looks fine it rides fine as well.
In the near future I'm really liking the idea of a wide glide front end. I wanted to change to a small headlight and tuck it back in between the trees real tight. But now I think I'm going to keep it as is. I really like how this one looks with the lace. I also have a set of copper velocity stacks comming from Canuck Plumber. I'm really stoke to get those as well. Other plans are to clean up the bars. remove the switches and maybe do a jockey or suicide shift. I'd also like to touch up a couple of places on the frame where I should have done a better job feathering the paint.

Thanks again for the compliments fellas. It is greatly appreciated
Troy

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

you put that rubber on by yourself! that is insane! i have to learn that!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Sure did! Kanticoy walked me through it. The frist one I wasn't using enough lube and pinched a tube but after I lubed her up real good it wasn't bad at all. Saved some pretty good $ and learned a new skill. ;D
I believe a few guys on here are starting to change their own tires now. It really isn't that bad man. If you decide to do one Give me a pm and I'll help you out.
Troy

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Yeah we changed dirtbike tires ourselves...been years but I still have my tire irons.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Ok fellas, I'm considering having swagger build me some new triple trees. I will use my forks with this same tire. I love the wide glide look. I know the forks will look a little skinny but I think that will exagerate the size of the tires. I love the bratstyle photos that have been floating around and I really like the excile bikes. Question is how wide should I go?
these are from the Excile cycles web site:

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Looks awesome with the new tires!!

I totally love this bike!!

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Man Troy. Out of the park brother. I love the way this thing looks. It reminds me of a Harley davidson JD series bike from the late 20's....my favorite HDs I might add...just a classy style. Man, you have really done it, and I love the wide front idea as well. Just send it over the top..

Wicked man. Just wicked. Love it.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Hey guys thanks. Really too kind! It's been so much fun helping this thing evolve. The wide front end is definitely an afterthought. I really had quite a mixture of inspirations when I started but I just let the bike evolve. I had the basic foundation and look I was looking for but I kind of let the bike speak.
The JD is an awesome machine. If you merge one of my favorite Nortons and the JD well... anyhow here:

cooles101-1.jpg

this has been on my desktop for the past year. I love so much about this Norton. i really like the riding position and i tried to capture a little of this on my bike. However, I wanted my bike slammed and have more of a bobber look.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Thanks bud, much appreciated.
My son had movie night so I sneaked out to the garage and pulled my front wheel. Since its a 34 deg I brought it in and went to town sanding and prepping. After about 4 hours the front is painted and it didn't turn out too bad. I was short on paint and ended up getting very little on the edges near the tire. I don't think its very noticable in fact it might even get covered once I pump the tire back up. Fingers crossed.
I should mention that I'm getting cold feet on the wide trees. I'm afraid it might change to look too much. I'm also wonder what my headlight bucket would look like on a wider front end. I'll have to think about is some more.

So another thing I'm considering for the winter is to add a fuel gauge to the tank. I plan to seal and repaint the tank anyhow so I figure why not. It looks like it would not be that hard to do. Besides my ole man can braze like nobodys business. He did it for years for General Motors.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

I wouldnt go wide with the front end. Take those late harley photos for inspiration. Super thinned out look. I think its good as is, well Im sure everyone will say the same. You should make some cherry wood headlight mounts for it. Ha its all the rage.

Old Indian beach bar clipons?

What make are those tires. Look like michelin?

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Hey bud, I think you make a pretty good point. I really like the bratstyle with cartoonish fat tires. If I widen the forks I might lose some of that look. Really something to consider. thanks for the input. Really appreciated.
the tires are Duro from american tire but AT website has them pictured different. I think I paid something like $37 each. Here there are on Duro's web site: http://www.durobike.com/productdetails.php?productid=454

Ok, couple of $. What are wood headlight mounts and Indian beach bar clip ons?

Curbcast's Build

This should answer your questions.

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

AAh, I see. Not sure how I missed that. Thanks

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

Yeah troy. Check em out. Really bulks up the front end.

I can just tell your antsy to do more. So I figure you havent customed your headlight arms or handle bars. If you did a custom cool sweeping clipon bar, that might be wicked.

Cha?
