picked up a 68 CL350, going to be doing things to it over the course of the next few weeks, im probably going to leave it patina'd and get everything mechanical in order, do something with the paint, maybe clean up some of the metal, id really like to do a brushed aluminum/stainless finish for most of the metal bits.
since i got it a week ago its had the wiring cleaned up, new kenda 761 dual sport tires, some new rubber bits, plugs, caps, fluids, valves checked, ect. and i have about $300 worth of stuff that should be arriving from DCC on monday, new cables all around, new "silencers" ect.
the bike itself runs great, seems to of been well taken care of engine wise, new chain sprockets, points condenser, seals ect, and im supposedly now the 3rd owner, the original was a local cop that rode it since he bought it new until he passed away. some ding dong kind of ruined the tank by filling in the badge indents with plaster(man those 60s badges were rad) then matte blacking over it, the side panels also got spray bombed black, then to add insult to injury ditched the awesome CL pipes and replaced them poorly with CB headers and cheesy martini shaker pipes, which are loud and fun but are total garbage, new reverse mega phones are on the way. id like to find some decent CL pipes eventually and replace them.
the plan for the bike is to keep it kind of ratty, almost bratty, and standard, kind of old dual sporty i guess while being a total hooligan ride. i was going to change the bars and the seat to super moto bars and a brat flat seat but the more i ride with the stock bars the more i dig them, and the OG seat has its charms, granted it was a replacement and im figuring off a CB as its about 1.5-2in short of meeting up with the tank.
id like to track down a cool stainless(or fab) front and rear fender and shorten them up a little, change out the tail light with an aluminum lucas style unit, maybe shit can the handle bar switch units and just run bare perches and dog leg style levers and put in hidden light switches, my main inspiration is a cool bonneville someone did up, pic will be included. ill post up pics as it changes in the future.
