I bought a 35mm FXRS fork in Newnan about a month ago. It has a 1" stem. It was listed as an 87 but 86 was supposedly the last year for the 35mm fork. The easy way to tell the difference is the top of the fork tube. If the tube is straight it is 39mm, if tapered 35mm.

I got a set of BSA to Harley steering neck conversion bearings last week. I thought that Lowbrow Customs sold them but it turns out they discontinued them and only offer bearings for Triumphs. I shot them an email to see if the Triumphs bearings could be adapted to a BSA and it turns out the tech had a set for a BSA in his personal stash which he agreed to sell me. Score!

So now I need to figure out which Harley front wheels will work with this set of forks. Any insight is appreciated.

I knew LowBrow had discontinued the bearing conversion but I thought one of the Brit parts suppliers still offered them. At any rate, great score. I found the LowBrow customer service to be the best.

73 and later narrow glide hubs with 3/4 axle. Superglide and Sportsters, some FXRs used them. Single or dual disc hubs are plentiful as are complete wheels. Face Book Market is usually a cheaper source than EBay.

New spokes and new rims can be had pretty cheap at BMIKarts. Look at the vintage motorcycle section. The stock rim is a 19" drop center.

Still on the hunt for a wheel for the front end. Maybe I’m being cheap but I have a hard time coming off as much money for a wheel as I spent on the whole fork. I should probably go ahead and buy some seals and rebuild the fork legs.

Check FaceBook market and sort by Harley wheel. I bought two spoke fronts with new tires and a rear with sprocket and brake a week ago for $200.

I am finally getting started on installing the FXRS front end. I swapped in the conversion bearings with no problems. Started installing the triple trees and realized the steering stem is a bit too long. Talked about it with another forum member, Kanticoy, and he offered to whip me up a couple of spacers to make it work. I’ll keep messing around getting things mocked up until I get the spacers.

I’ve got a good rebuilt wheel, an axle and brake caliper sitting here now waiting for me to bolt stuff together.
