I consider myself very fortunate to have a selection of mates with various skills at my disposal so to speak. I wish I had and could use a lathe and really must fire up my MIG more often, get some practice. Still, progress is progress Beachy.

Some time ago I asked if anyone had fitted an oil pressure gauge to the Virago 125 / 250 engine ............................... deafening silence - so resorted to what I do best, I developed my own.

After a lot of research into the oil system in the engine I finally found a suitable take off on the right hand side gallery feed to the rockers and top end.

In the end simples .... remove the blanking screw, drill out 7.5mm then tap 5/16" UNF to take the oil fitting take off that came with the kit.

NO , I don't need an oil pressure gauge, but I scored a period brass pressure gauge - brand new in the box for next to nothing.

I'll position it when the bike is finally assembled.

Yes MT, and it was silly cheap as it was listed in the wrong place and mine was the only bid for his start price !

It's from a period Chrysler French car - looks the dogs !!!!

Nice old gauge. Where will you mount it, engine or bars..or?

Although the color looks nice, I'd suggest SS tubing over copper. Copper work-hardens badly with vibration.

Another step forward while I'm waiting for a welder [ !! ].

Prepped and primered the top yoke and front fork hoop. Once that's had a final rub down and one more coat all the fork parts are ready for Celeste Blue and assembly.

What do you all think about my new spray booth ???

I used a split cardboard box too.

Sorry you are having so much trouble getting a welder; if you weren't across the pond this is a weld job that I would be happy to be part of.

Just a thought but does your local exhaust shop have a welder with his own gear? I had a couple of things welded by our Midas muffler shop over the years. Welding isn't pretty but it sticks. I also have a local welding shop that will (reluctantly) fit in small jobs between production runs.

Teazer - wish I'd thought of that !

However, situation now resolved. An old pal I'd lost touch with contacted me a few days ago for a ketchup ..... guess what - he's a welder !!

He's awaiting open heart surgery [ next month ], but will come and tack my frame in the next 2 weeks.

His outward symptoms are shortness of breath, but he says he can still wield a welding gun.

He's the kind of pal that if he says he will do something - he will. And he still owes me a favour or two, so it's a no cost bonus.

Fork components are now fully fettled and awaiting final assmbly into to fork tubes and yokes.

Resisting the urge to spray the parts in the Celeste Blue ........................ just.

MT, it wasn't my original choice [ Coffee and Cream ] but once I went down the route of creating an Edoardo Bianchi Phantom, it seemed to make sense to use the 1900's [ and still used today ] corporate colour. the Light Ivory contrast was my input.

In the sun, and clear coated. The clear coat often intesifies color.
