Cafe Madass

Oh, the other thing Sachs need a kicking for is stupid 16 inch wheel which you can't get good tyres for.

I found Dunlop TT900GP race tyres but had to import them from Japan myself.

Cheers

Thread could be a bit dead by now but I thought someone might be interested. Some photos of the unfinished project. Motor is at work haveing the new cam dialled in etc.. And awaiting a Keihin FCR downdraft carb.

Problem is you have to come out from the frame 80mm to clear the swing arm and the plate ended up too flexi. Castings are cheap and quick, yeah you'll snap one in a crash but at $15 a cast I'll just bolt on another. (15NZD so $10USD)

Found a youtube vid of one of our races. I think the bike you are onboard is a CB125 twin.

EX250 wheels all but bolt up......just sayin'!
If it wasn't so tiny I'd ride one back and forth to the shop..

"EX250 wheels all but bolt up......just sayin'!"

Good to know thanks, but I am after Honda RS125 or Marvic wheels, On a low capacity engine lighter wheels make a huge difference to performance. A friend bought some GP marvic wheels you would not believe how light they were. They were incredible.

I am going to go stupid on weight savings, considering 415 gauge chain and sprockets at the moment.

Cheers

Kinda like this, I've been on the look out for something to do when the XV is finished (one day..honest)
Want something for commuting about 2 miles eachway but not anything mundane.

Oh cool. I didn't know folks were still looking at this. It's nice to see some actual builds. That looks top notch. I'd imagine a welded trellis for the rearsets would look the part and still be structurally sound.

May sound silly, but make the false tank a compartment to hold your crap in- wallet, glasses, etc.

Can't wait to see one done.

Wouldn't be a bad place to put an airbox. I like the idea of making it a dedicated snack container for cheetohs and other delicate items.

Gonna sound a dumbass here but "fake tank" ??? which tube is that.
I thought it might look quite good if you could route the exhaust through the tube under the seat (is this the fuel tank ?)
would love to do a bare bones style on one of these.
My problem has always been that I like to many pretty things but can never decide on one type....

The motor looks like a standard Honda 50 engine which means there are plenty of options for it. Such as a DOHC 150cc or a 190cc. The 160cc I have in my minicafe (my avatar pic) pushes me (210lbs 6'1") to 68mph.
I have even seen a prototype 200cc and DOHC water cooled 180cc. Would be cool to claim a TON on a madass.

I think the tank is in the front section of the main tube, looks to be a filler up near the head stock.

Hate the wheels on the Madass. It look a little cooler with some spokes.

This dood did some nice work with a madass and has done some other nice scooters.

Agree about the wheels, yep spokes would look great. the closer my XV gets to being finished the more i'm looking at a lightweight for an everyday scootabout. trouble is most would be a bit too small, not that i'm big but i'm also a long way from being 16....I would look a right tw*t on my old 1979 AP50.
