I cant remember who but this bike was built right here by a guy on DTT a couple years ago.

And yes, there were a lot of comments made about his tire selection.

Must be the Phonetic influence and cheap coffee, but really?

The "tires" don't mean shit to kids that don't have a clue what performance IS, the fact is these "kids" need to learn on something closer to a pig than a FUCKING R1. I will go on record here and say... I am no mechanical engineer and I don't give a rats ass what those that are or think they are have to say unless what is said has something constructive included. I was commenting on the motorcycle Idiot.

Sorry Tuna but I don't get it. Are you suggesting that those stupid fat tires, or tars :) are OK. I do agree that kids need to learn on something less lethal than the current crop of sportbikes. That rule is asinine for sure, but the bike in question is truly unsafe at any speed, as a certain Mr Nader used to like to say.

As for the claim that it was bored to 450cc, that's cute. Stock bore is 64mm and with a 50.6mm stroke that's 325cc as it says on the cylinder. 450cc requires 75.0mm pistons. That's 3mm larger than the OD of stock liners. CB450 liners are only 78.1mm on teh OD so those would also be too thin and besides, the pistons would be a tiny 70mm.

I actually don't know if there's enough meat in the barrels to fit a liner large enough., but I would seriously doubt that anyone with teh machining skills to build such a motor would have created such a disfunctional art project. I could be wrong though.

XB33,
stop being so subtle and tell us what you really think. :)

Maybe for a Rokon Trailbreaker. Is that the look they're going for? Most Rokons had a top speed of maybe 20mph on those fat ass tires.

See See built one of those that I like

But I digress. Back to that CB- what's up with the long ass fuel line? It reminds me of how those bosozoku guys leave their radiator hoses hanging out.

I didn't pay any mind to the displacement comment, I was commenting on the design/look only and clarified the tires were the "one real miss" but only by size. you know the thing obviously was not put together for Laguna Seca, but as a lazy cruiser with "less" girth in the rubber bands and >175lb rider? Yeah when I was a teenager I rode em all and loved it... even the ugly ones.

I sure hope I didn't upset Y'all, I love ribs and I love serving them too, maybe next time I :-X

No way, never zip it. A subject we all have a distinct opinion about. One of maybe a dozen common build choices where the consensus here is definitely against.

Those antique tires are probably fine for a major metropolitan area where all you're using the bike for is doing bike nights at the local downtown coffee houses. The kids all think those are cool, and I guess they are. I have not tried them, but I expect wringing them out on a twisty mountain road might be foolish. I'll stick with modern tires, thanks. (pun intended)

Who the hell do you think you are coming in here with a balanced reasonable opinion??? This topic is for hot-heads and know-it-alls, not for well adjusted adults that realize fads come and go and probably remember subscribing to a dumb trend or two at some point in their own young lives. You, Sir, are far too thoughtful to post here...move along. ;)

My brother had one of these once upon a time and I've always been keen on them. Scary fast as I recall.

I would buy that one with some haggling. That is such a unique fin design and a great restoration.

Late to that game -- see previous page.

But to the point, in what way is a non functional art work a tribute to Senna? Just because they want publicity and are trading on the name of a late great race car driver does not make it a tribute? Is it fast and stylish like Senna? Nope.

Senna was obsessed with speed, not with imitation art. It isn't talking to me. YMMV

$8500 CB400F... bobber?

Right below this I saw a stock CB400F with 6K miles for under 3 grand. Tough choice.

Death trap. No front brakes, no signals, probably no kill switch, what appears to be dual sport tires, and a single 1970's tech rear drum. Looks cool but no thanks!
