The "tires" don't mean shit to kids that don't have a clue what performance IS, the fact is these "kids" need to learn on something closer to a pig than a FUCKING R1. I will go on record here and say... I am no mechanical engineer and I don't give a rats ass what those that are or think they are have to say unless what is said has something constructive included. I was commenting on the motorcycle Idiot.
teazer said:Sorry Tuna but I don't get it. Are you suggesting that those stupid fat tires, or tars are OK. I do agree that kids need to learn on something less lethal than the current crop of sportbikes. That rule is asinine for sure, but the bike in question is truly unsafe at any speed, as a certain Mr Nader used to like to say.
As for the claim that it was bored to 450cc, that's cute. Stock bore is 64mm and with a 50.6mm stroke that's 325cc as it says on the cylinder. 450cc requires 75.0mm pistons. That's 3mm larger than the OD of stock liners. CB450 liners are only 78.1mm on teh OD so those would also be too thin and besides, the pistons would be a tiny 70mm.
I actually don't know if there's enough meat in the barrels to fit a liner large enough., but I would seriously doubt that anyone with teh machining skills to build such a motor would have created such a disfunctional art project. I could be wrong though.
XB33,
stop being so subtle and tell us what you really think.
No way, never zip it. A subject we all have a distinct opinion about. One of maybe a dozen common build choices where the consensus here is definitely against.Tune-A-Fish said:I sure hope I didn't upset Y'all, I love ribs and I love serving them too, maybe next time I :-X

The kids all think those are cool, and I guess they are. I have not tried them, but I expect wringing them out on a twisty mountain road might be foolish. I'll stick with modern tires, thanks. (pun intended)
I would buy that one with some haggling. That is such a unique fin design and a great restoration.Boondoggle said:http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/mcy/4874864539.html
My brother had one of these once upon a time and I've always been keen on them. Scary fast as I recall.

Right below this I saw a stock CB400F with 6K miles for under 3 grand. Tough choice.
