"Cafe Racer" such a loose term! Craigslist "Gem" of the week!

These shows are all to create interest and it works.

I wish I had all the old crap and signs my grandpa had, that ole dude built dune buggies and took must of been 30-40 hit and miss motors to fairs to show off, dang things were from tiny to the size of a truck all with cool advertising stuff. When grandma died he went on a bender, met a gold digger and wound up with nothing in a trailer, they found him dead in his recliner from diabetes.

These cats with all those bikes... some are actually preserving history, but yes many are rotting in piles and it really bothers me to see that, I seen one of the shows where a guy had them all smashed in a rotting barn with a pipe run through the wheels so no one could steal one... sell that stuff of to people who might get it in the wind man... and the retired BSA dude... I could of puked when I seen all those tanks and bike parts piled up. Some are for looking at but if its safe... ride em or let someone else buy em and ride em.

I'm in between jobs right now and was binge watching "Pickers". It dawned on me the asshole's of the world get off on fucking the rest of us. Out of the approx. six shows I watched, several had guys who owned warehouses full of vintage motorcycles. One show in particular lived in a town of 800. He only owned about 1,000 bikes. Trying to buy any of them was impossible. They finally talked him out of an engine and frame at a price I thought insane and doubt had any paperwork.

These guys didn't care that these bikes were rotting away, and not only were they never going to ride any of them, but priced them in a fashion that their future was to rust away into the ground. In their fucked up brain, it was better to let them rot than sell them. It was just insanity. I think without exaggerating, they showed well over 1,000 bikes that will never again see the light of day because of some kind of mental illness that these people have.

There was a salvage yard in AZ that operated like this. Ridiculous prices, total asshole, would get pissed off if you tried to bargain or tell him that dented up and rusty CB500T wasn't worth the $200 he wanted. I'm pretty convinced it was a meth front so he wasn't to concerned with actually selling shit. He, his spun out wife, and her sister would follow you around and make sure you didn't touch anything, or yell at you if you bumped into something. And to top it off, half of it burned in a fire a couple years. He had tons of great old Japanese and Brit bikes, and old Schwinns (which were also ridiculously overpriced).

First time I went there it wasn't like that. I had a 350F and needed to replace the shitty exhaust. he had both a 400F exhaust and a stock 350F 4-4, and wanted $125 for either. I bought the 400F, but should have bought both. Two years later went back, the 350F was $500. Still would have been a deal -- it was in amazing shape -- but the assholery had begun at that point. Meth is a hell of a drug.

I think it's more a Freudian slip.

I don't dislike it. Really love the headlight and that speedo/tach. To me it has an unfinished look but seems like it's a pretty good start. Yeah, I have always liked (at least the idea of) a brown seat, but it seems like the one on this bike ought to be black, right Tune-A?
