CB160

Been Around the Block
The pics of the bike when I bought it and now after getting the pistons unstuck. What a pain. I haven't checked everything to see what all is ruined.

I just removed most of the parts from the vat. There's rust in lots of areas. I'm going to have to blast those areas before paint. The front forks aren't seized. The rear shocks aren't as I think they should be. Other than that, every single part of the bike needs some work. What could be wrong with that? ;D ;D

Cute little CL160. Should be a nice little runaround. Those things can be made to fly.

Back in the day, people fitted race cams and Cb72 crabs and CB77 liners with cut down pistons. They could be made to go quite fast.

We fitted a 175 5 speed into one and bored it to 210cc with modified CB500 (?) pistons, bigger valves and a megacyle cam. It was fast for a 160.

Little progress

Dodge Viper red. Left over from a 53 chevy pickup project. The other parts will be silver. The 68 Honda ads show a red and silver cl160. Mine is a D model that was a dealer conversion of a cb.

Today's progress. Weather is about to change . No more painting. :(

Both sides of the tank. I'm not happy with the paint. I'll redo it when it warms back up. The flags are new but the knee pads are 1968. One fits good and the other has shrunk. I'm going to use the heat gun on it for a few days in a row to see if they will stretch.

This thing is gonna be sweet! I'd lve to stumble across one of these for sale.

heat gun will not help to make them larger...........it will only soften them temporarily about 5-10 minutes...good luck with the project ,joe

After a series of disasters, here's the repainted tank.

WFO, try some brake fluid on those rubbers. I haven't tried it yet but heard it works good on old rubber.

Here's some shots that show how the pads fit.
