That looks great! i have a slow moving 175 project myself in the works...moved into a place without a garage so it has come to a screeching halt!!!!

Re: CB175 Cafe Racer Build

Justin- Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know that was possible, much better than the stock + equalizer.

Thanks, some people can tell the make/model of a car blocks away just by the exhaust note..I can hear a scrapper coming blocks away. Check this out, filmed in Chicago.. http://www.scrappersmovie.com/blog/

Ruckii are taking over Chicago...someone should open a business.

Thanks CX, It's definitely sticking around after all that I've done. She'll be a good bike to loan to friends for the DMV test too.

Not really an update but I just took her for a ride out to a friends place in Huntley, IL. First ride of any distance for me on the 175, something like 120 miles RT. She was well behaved albeit stressed a bit in those 55mph speed limit zones. Definitely not the bike for extended riding but I don't expect it to be. Got a lot of attention from fellow bikers, maybe they thought I was crazy all tucked and revved out only doing 65... 8)

Anyways, I fitted and installed the bellypan this weekend, lost the toolbox and made a couple other tweaks. I'll throw some pictures on soon.

I also am looking to lose the electric start once I find a plug...I think CL's have a stock plug where the starter is? I'll need to cut shorter and reweld the kickstart or find something else that works since the stock one interferes with the rearset.

Check the link below for a Dorman rubber freeze plug for your starter hole. Not sure of the size of your 175 plug, but I used the 44-47mm plug on my cb200. This sucker tightens downs really nice and there is no way its coming out. I got mine at a local autozone or something like that. $3.50.

I had seen that freeze plug used before and it works well.

One other comment- what seat pan is that you used? Where did you get it and which model is it? Same question for your taillight.
Nice build.

sbaugz, thanks for the link and compliment. I think that plug is going to be the way to go once I work out the kickstart. I'm pretty sure they are the same size. Maybe someone can correct me there. The seat pan is the UNIBTA and the bellypan is the DUCBPA. Both from Glass From The Past (GFTP)

Bret is really helpful, I sent him a video of the seat I was after and he identified it and got started right away.

The tail light is from www.customdynamics.com, it is "Dynamic Cluster LED Circle" GEN-DP

Great Thanks,
I am assuming you welded the mufflers on? I need to find a good welding shop here. Thanks for the info on my blog.
