powder should NEVER chip... ever

what would someone expect as far as cost to do a 350 frame and swinger?

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

$250 for the frame, 50-75 for the arm, +30 to remove bushings

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

I got cut a break because they were doing a big run with candy red for $200 blasted and powdered frame with s/a. Maybe that would be a good way to save a few bucks, if that is a common practice amongst powder coaters, that is.

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

If I only had an oven. LOL!

The closest I am ever going to get to coating is using a toaster oven to bake ceramic coatings onto piston tops. LOL!

I have been around a lot of coatings, and good powder coating really should never chip, flake or degrade over time. Paint is cheaper, usually, but I would take the info from these guys and try to find a deal on a blast/powdercoat and if the price wasn't too much more than what you were offered, go for that.

Or . . . put the money towards us finding a decent compressor, cheap blaster kit and DIY the mofo. :p

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

yeah, thats way out of budget right now, especially considering I already have all the paint xD. Paint it is!

Good things are coming, My friends... Good things are coming...

)(*#)(*#$(*) LWS's are not open on Saturday. W . . . T . . . F. This morning has been a rollercoaster of awesome and suck. Progress is being made despite the setbacks, and Dave brought me gifts . . . That part is (#)()*$()*#$(* amazing. LOL!

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

Hey man, thats a good deal on the blasting, send me the # immediately! The quote I got on the 450 frame and rims at a place on 20th st and 6th ave was roughly 220 to blast (but that included a rim and the frame was nasty and had about 300 coats of different paint so it took em a while) and roughly 300 to coat the swingarm and frame (I opted for paint since I'm not keeping that bike). Which was pretty cheap from what I compared it to.....

PM Sent!

if anyone else is wondering, here is the place...

Heres what Matt's gift was.... A brand spankin new, good quality 3/4hp motor for his drill press to replace the cute lil lump of metal that thought it was a motor, but clearly wasn't...

The new motor looks a bit out of place on the press, sort of like when people shove a massive V8 into the back of a classic mini.

This should improve productivity, especially once Matt gets a motor controller on there to drop the speed wayyy down. as it is, you need to have way to fast of a feed rate for most stuff that matt works with, mainly stainless steel.

I also did some more grinding on my swingarm and brought it home to do some last minute things to get it looking really pretty and ready for a lil bit of filler weld from matt so that its ready for blasting!

Also made a sketchy mock up of one of the tanks, and brought my bodywork home ready for fiberglassing now that mounts are done on the frame. I'll be sure to take some pics of the things tomorrow afternoon when I get back from the shooting range with my girlfriend and her father. should be a blast.... looking forward to blowing off some steam with his trusty baretta 9mm and WWII issue M1 Garand, among other fun weapons. ;D

Your telling me? I've been trying to make sense of this place for years. Bikes are really the only thing that make sense to me :)

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

Beretta, mehh... But the M1 Garand! What a beautiful piece of history. You are a lucky man. What other goodies did you get to shoot?

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

didnt get to shoot the m1... but I did get to shoot an ar15, the beretta, a browning (classic!), a 45 magnum, and my personal favorite of the day, a 1911 .45. The 1911 just felt the best to me, most balanced, loved the sight on it, and i got my tightest group with that. Was my girlfriends first time on the range, and damn shes a natural! definitely the kind of girl you would want around during a zombie apocalypse.

After the range, my girlfriends father decided to take his SV650 out. a quick shower and some bad drivers led to him having a slow speed low side in order to avoid a 3 car pile up directly in front of him from some texting chick blowing through a red light. Bent radiator (never seen one!), shift lever, frame peg bolt (im worried about this one, looks like the stud goes into the motor.... hopefully it wont be too hard to remove) and some minor damage on the foot peg. I'm going to fix it all for him later this week... tomorrow night I'm going to bend back the current lever so that I can ride it to my house so I have access to my tools in order to replace the radiator when it comes in. Also going to make him an axle mount for his plate and fix up some of the shabby body work.

As for my own bike, going back up to matts shop tomorrow after class to get the headers finished (finally) and help him with other projects. I should be restarting on fiberglassing the bodywork tuesday, and later this week we will hopefully get started on the tanks... yum yum, Progress tastes good.

also, My pretty (horrible) face is on Matt's amazing blog! I told you guys that I do get work done... at least sometimes! hehe...

For those of you that have not read his blog yet, go over there and be amazed. really awesome projects; everything from building MASSIVE tables for the military to the cute lil headers on my 350. Be sure to subscribe and share... He's trying to get some more traffic over there, since traffic means business!

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

Bummer you did not get to shoot the M1. A 45 magnum? Thats an oddball. It is definitely hard to beat a well made 1911. Any idea what kind? Such a classic gun.

That really sucks about the SV650. Its never a good day to lay a bike down, hopefully it should be a quick fix. I am assuming he was okay?

Good luck with your build. Keep those updates coming

Re: CB350 Built by a teen (Weird Pipes) It's the little things...

i have a 1911 defender and a rock Island 1911 awesome hand guns
