Thanks NoRiders. My brother is coming over this week for a look and if he likes it I can then spray it with two pack clear - another job out of the way...

Still waiting on some decent weather so I can put a coat of clear on the tank and seat, but it has absolutely sucked here lately, so I made up a bracket to mount the rear tail light/number plate surround on. It is a neat little unit that has an integral stop/tail/numberplate light embedded in it and all I had to do was to wire it up with a weatherproof connector and then make a mount for it. I had previously welded three lugs on the rear loop so it was quite simple to fabricate a bracket to suit. For all you guys who worry about the clearance to the tyre the picture is deceptive - it has already been checked and there is plenty of room to spare.

That will look neat...I plan something similar to mount rear light and our UK reg plate, doubling as a mudguard out back.
What gauge alloy did you use? Do you have 2mm?

It was just some 3mm angle I had. I milled and drilled it then filed off the back of the angle and bent it to shape. I then welded it both sides and bolted it into place with rubber inserts and machined sleeves. I still need to get some S/S nyloc nuts to hold it place permanently.

I am still waiting to take my tank and seat to a mate's booth so that I can spray the two pack clear on, but I'm a bit unwilling to ask him at the moment with everything that's going on so it will just have to wait.
I didn't like the blinker warning lights in the tacho as they are very small so I made up another mounting bracket (third one lol) and fitted some waterproof bezel LED's on each side, which are quite bright.
Looks like I will miss Mid-Ohio this year as well, I was really looking forward to going there, maybe next year.
I hope everyone on the forum is OK, this virus is a terrible thing.

Thanks Phillip, hopefully I can get it finished soon, the painting is really all that is left aside from fitting the wiring harness, which is all modified and ready to go in.

Thanks for your reply, I'll source some 3mm and see how it goes. Faultless work as usual...

You probably realise by now that I am getting bored sitting at home most of the week. The nuts that hold the LED's in place are short so I got on the lathe and machined up some new longer ones. The knurling tool works really well on aluminium and came out quite well with just one pass. The thread was 8x0.8 which is very fine but luckily I had a tap.

Thanks Guys.
I got all the wiring installed on the bike and tied the loom in place so that's all finished. I put some fuel in the carbies with a small filler bottle and it started as soon as I pushed the button, which was a good result. I also set up all the components of the speedo/tacho - speedo calibration, tacho inductive wiring, over-rev light and they all work properly as well.
This Covid-19 restriction has left me, up until a couple of days ago, with nothing to do so I pulled the stickers from the tank and seat and rubbed the tank back and resprayed it red without any stripes, as I wasn't too happy about them. I made up some new stickers (another 500 stickers and I can justify owning it lol) and now a good mate of mine will let me use his booth to put the final coat of clear on, then it's time to get it on the road. I am hoping that I can just put vintage rego on it but we'll wait and see on that one.

Well after a couple of years of Covid and some extremely bad weather (which is still happening) I finally put some clear on my tank and tail and got it all assembled. A mate of mine came down from Sydney on the weekend and took some photos (which I definitely can't do) and it turned out OK.
