CB550 build in Texas, just getting started

Getting a lil movement from the floats. Gas tank is getting derusted. I want to put knee dents in it afterwards.

Should have a little flat area right behind where they mount to the engine that has a number stamped on them.

You still have a ways to go with that carb dip. ;)

Just some of the stuffs I've collected. The petcock isn't the right size but I might try and make it work.

All of my favorite chemicals...except that engine degreaser crap. Get Berryman's B-12 Chem-tool. Eats any grease or petrol product like Wendy Williams at a buffet. One can goes a looong way.

With those pod filters, you plan to re-jet, correct?

I talked the p.o. and he said I should start with a 107 and 40. Plan on ordering a few tonight. And I haven't found any berrymans yet.

I need to buy a good rotary tool. Those carbs are worst I've seen, damn.
Yeah I'm trying to be careful to not damage my carbs with the tool, but its helping alot

Lemme know how your luck works with those pods, we've tried 3 different types, none fit when on the bike. The outside carbs have have zero extra room when it comes to frame clearance. I'm building a Uni foam filter for it now.

What's in it for jets now? Did the PO do work on it once he cut the exhaust off?

Now just gotta get 'em like this...

I love my Harbor Freight polishing wheel. ;)

I'll be doing some good polishing when i begin my teardown for repaint, but this was just to get more gunk off. in other news, I GOT THE FOURTH FLOAT FREE! yipee! a set of plyers, pandora music, and pb blaster did it. time to order the last parts that I know I need and see if this thing will start. carbs arent perfect but they are mostly clean and I'll continue to clean until they get put on. the number on the side of the carbs is 022a (Keihin), so I need to find jets for those, any pointers would be awesome. still gotta decide what to do with the petcock. maybe I can source an adapter at home depot to use the one i bought with the wrong size. I need to pull the wheels off, but texas has gotten alot of rain this week and I haven't had time.

PB Blaster and Pandora radio are essential in any toolkit.

I'm sure you know how to look at a diagram of your particular carb to follow the channels and passages so that you can figure the best ways to blow through them, yes?

Using this method, you can tell right away if you have a clog inside.

yeah i've pretty much checked on all the internals of the carbs, still need to rebuild it with fresh o-rings and gaskets though. my problem with the carbs is that on Jets-R-Us.com, I can't find the right Keihin model
