the electrical panel was moved in 4 inches and regulator repositioned with new brackets but still needed a cover to hide it all.. aluminum cover with formed edges and dimpled holes..still needs attach hardware and screening.

I've seen that technique of the holes in one of my metalworking books....if I could only remember how! I thought they used a hole slightly larger than the one you drill/cutout, and then a larger "ballpein" shaped hammer that had a soft head on it to tap it down like that. I think it adds strength to the part too. I'll go find my book.....JoeA you make some great lookin rides.

hi guys,
the cover dimple was made using a die set i made up from some scrap stuff in the shop...one part is actually a motorcycle frame slider i found with a taper machined and a tube bolted to it as a guide the other part is a matching taper and hole so they slide into one another to stay aligned and then put under a press to form..yes it adds strength/rigidity. used in a lot of aircraft panels.
the edges are made with another tool i made up using a modified power nibbler...when i get a chance i will see about a photo. joe

optional mufflers before powder coating ....rear set mock up only, going to fab some round tube ones and position them correctly...........

I'm pretty sure the holes were punched with a standard "iron worker" punch... When you use them with soft metaks like aluminum or anything thin for that matter. They tend to indent the material a bit... I could be wrong though.

Bike looks good.

Edit... Haha,, never mind!!!! I'm a dumb ass and didnt finish reading the whole thread. Duh!
