CJ360T Cafe Project (UPDATED Pics, getting close)

Can anyone give me a rundown on just the very basic wiring needed to get my bike running? I worked on breaker point timing last night and have the wrapped up I think. I put spark plugs in and tightened them down. Hooked the battery up to the postive side, grounded the negative side to the frame.

Turned the key on, switched the start button to 'Run' and kicked and kicked and nothing happened.

Is there a way to hook power directly to the coils just to see/hear the motor start? What's simplest way to get this bike started?

I'm not really sure, but in my case, to get even the running lights and headlight working the whole thing had to be a complete circuit. Not sure if it needs to be that way for the motor too but I think it needs to be a whole unit, right?

Did you connect the starter solenoid to the starter in the front? yours might be different. mine has to be connected to each other. Big black cable.

my two cents. not sure if it helps any.

You do have the points in circuit?
send power to one side of coil (black or black with white tracer) ground through points (yellow and blue wires.)
Take points cover off and manually open points, make sure left is left and right is right.
It should run if timing is even close, but, you have to be careful or you will overheat coils and damage them

Headlight in these pics is a stock Cj360, then I tried a CB360, and now I have a RocCity headlight on there. I need to get those pics up.

Mounts are from DimeCityCycles. I got the cheap $14 mounts and they look fine.

I wired my bike like this, all it does is run lights and charge. Kick only, but it works just fine and I have like 10 wires total.

There is a 'chopper' shop next to Blue Riband Cycles in Atlanta that built a cafe style bike for magazine when I was there a few years ago. (don't remember of shop but it is quite well known)
I didn't see any 'gangs of cafe bikes' had to take Nate's word for it
I made my own high level exhaust for CJ250 (bored to 391cc ;D )

It's mostly a nasty CB400 front, cut, shortened and collector turned sideways with 2litre Ford center expansion box as a silencer.
The pipe that goes over the car axle got cut and welded to fit inside frame.
It's done at least 3,000+miles (including being on British TV)

Brother just contacted me, it's been stolen. It's in Britain, was in South Wales but could be almost anywhere by now :(
