CL-Style Pipes

I find them a bit uneventful. Although they're bare bones and that's what you're going for, maybe an elegant motofiaccone laser etched heat shield would spice them up, still be lightweight, and serve a purpose. Just a thought.
+1, that would be the ape's titties.

Took me a minute to notice that yours has the left over the right. Looks really good. I love the riser pipes. Keep playing man, your impressing us all I reckon.

I dont think the the bend on the left pipe is to tight. with the size tube used and the lack of flow from such a small engine you should be good. so with that said i like the looks better than the crossover style.

This was a while ago, but I finally finished them up. I think they came out pretty cool. Due to the riding position, they did need a heat shield so the rider doesn't burn his/her leg. I TIGed on some bungs and the shield sits on that. Since it is prototype exhaust, I was hesitant to etch my logo on it, but figured what the hell.

These are now for sale!! Please let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for looking.

i have cl175 scramblers. I really dig the bigger heat shield. Perhaps you could make the pipes extra long for us folks to custom our tips. Also a bigger plain heat shield so as to custom it too. Thats just me.

I love the left over top. Looks really cool

Love em Chris. Really wish I had some extra money. These bends are so sweet! Love the shield too!

If I had a choice I'd like another 2-3" welded as tips to each and the ends cut on 45s. Anyway, I think they rock! ...On the wish list for my next scoot.

These are still for sale. PM me if you're interested. They make a great Christmas present to yourself :)

I have a different design I'll whip out next week.

--Thanks, Chris

these pipes are amazing the bends are great even the extra bend on the left exhaust. i'm hoping to learn how to bend piping so i could make some custom pipes myself can't wait.

I am looking for a set of CL450 pipes. guy in town has 3 full systems but trying to get rich off of them. THe mufflers are shot to hell also. If i can find a set of head pipes....either factory or if someone made them for a reasonable price that would be awesome.

yo! motobrocone! ;D how do you fab/attach the flanges at the head end of your headers? i had a hell of a time with the set that i made. i made the flange out of slices off some thick schedule pipe and had them welded onto the inside/engine side of the tubing. the penetration was pretty good, but i wondered about welding the other side too... decided not to because i thought it would mess up how the exhaust collars tighten up against it. you think that'll hold up?

Hmm...I don't know. I just TIG the collar to the header on the inside. Then, I put two tiny rosette welds for additional stability. Without knowing much about your project, I can't really offer good advice.

--Thanks, Chris

On a different note, someone take these off my hands..and off the shelf. I built these as a proof of concept and planned to sell them very cheaply. Afterall, they were a learning experience. Now, I have a full on project on my hands, so these are off to the trash soon; I need the shelf-space.

PM me if you're interested.

thanks Chris! i think you actually did answer me, that the welding is inside/head side... that you don't put a bead down on the other side where the two piece collars go... so no weld where the red is...

Cool setup! I'll be fabbing a set for my CB200 soon. It's too bad these don't fit my bike or I'd get 'em from you.

I made this set of high pipes for my CB450 street tracker project a while ago

Nice work.

My next project is a XS650 and it looks likes it's going to have the street tracker look.
