i want your ruckus!! ive always wanted one of those damn things

Playing around with the ruckus is what got me wanting to do a motorcycle. I've thought about selling the ruckus since I don't get to ride it much. Here's a couple better pics of it.

I have the front wheel to match, I just never got the front disc brake and forks setup to use that wheel. Not sure how much you know about them, but i did a 150cc motor swap with the 7 inch motor mount extension. Its a little faster now than the orginal 50 cc motor. ;D

Is that an all stainless exhaust? If so, that's really cool. Who made that? The reason I ask is because my metal supplier has a Rukus. On Monday, he asked me to do an exhaust for him. Thinking there was no way I could find stainless bends in that size, I just modified the stock exhaust. He's happy as hell about it, but after seeing your exhaust, I feel bad--like I half-assed it.

I can't see how Chris. With your attention to detail and welding ability I know it has to look killer. Even if it is modified stock it has to be cool as hell. After all he is a metal supplier and he probably could have used any one. He chose you and that about says it all.

Surprisingly, no; no one else followed through. I got to be friends with the guys in the metal warehouse, and most of the time I have such small orders, they just give it to me for free. I feel indebted to them, so I knocked it out. Hopefully, when things settle down, I'll whip out a stainless system for them. The Rukus is a cool bike. I'd rock one.

It is stainless tubing and then the pipe is titanium. I just bought the yoshimura system for the stock 50cc motor, then when I swapped to the 150cc motor my friend modified it to work with the new motor. It turned out ok, but I wish it was tucked up to the motor a little tighter. As it sits now it is the lowest part of the bike and only a couple inches off the ground when there is weight on the bike. It also has a little leak right at the motor since it wasn't made for that motor. I made up a gasket and it was fine for awhile but then the pipe moved a little and now leaks.

Here's a couple pics of how the pipe should be up against the motor. Who knows why a 2 stroke exhaust comes on a 4 stroke... ::)

Hey Corey I've been meaning to show you something. Its a 360 with about the same length and stance of what you're rockin. It was hardtailed but the tire is def behind the rider about the same as where you're at. I think it is a Half-Fast bike from Joe's neck of the woods. Pretty cool looking scoot. (barefoot is asking for trouble but my kind O girl)

Cool looking bike, I was able to find his build thread and I'm reading through it now.

May not look so hot without toes and skin = ) Awesome bike though!

Here's a few more pics with the seat mounted up. I got some padding for it today and went looking for some leather to cover it with. I was asking my Dad if he knew of any places in town to get leather and he said he had some I could have. He had a bunch of deer skin that is a dark brown. It was his dads and he told me its probably older than I am, ha ha. So I think I might just try to use that for the seat, it would be kind of neat knowing it was my grandpas. Its the color I was looking for too.

Still no luck with getting the fork legs apart. I need to try an impact drill on it, I was going to use my friends but his battery is shot for it. Looks like I have to borrow another one. I went to pick up some heavier fork oil today and the place had to order it in... ::) They didn't stock anything over 10w. If anyone knows how much oil is needed per fork I would appreciate that info.

Lovin the stance Corey. You are right the front could go down a little more. Looks like the tec article should be spot on. I'm not at my computer with my shop man. but I'm pretty sure the fork oil should be listed somewhere in there. Should be with the fluid levels.
Really like the dear leather. Awesome that it was your grandfathers! make sure you get it right the first time. Might even be good to find a practice piece. One tip is to get it a little wet before stretching it.

I'm sitting here looking at the seat wondering if I should leave it with the two layers of foam like I have it or if I should take one off and only have one layer. The layers are 1/2" thick. In the pics above nothing has changed yet on the front end height since I couldn't get the forks apart yet. Once I get that done I'll be able to level out the frame.

To be honest I kind of like the thicker looking seat. It might be good to have that extra little bit of padding. But that will be up to you. What are the plans to attach the leather? I really dig the seat pans that are painted then have the leather riveted along the outside edge. I also thought about cutting a piece of 1/8 flat about 1" wide in the shape of the seat. Then rivit or screw that along he outside edge. The foam would have to be cut back along the edges to do both of these.

My plan is to paint the pan so it doesn't rust and then pull the leather over and rivet it to the bottom.
