CX500 Build: Huzzi

Awesome work man!

I had similar seat in mind for my build. I might use wood for seat pan though.

Use that wood seat as a mold for a fiberglass seat. I don't know how well wood will do for a motorbike seat pan

@tin- not sure if you're still watching this thread, but I want to flat-seat my cx500 as well. It looks like you have a bit of forward lean angle in your seat with your solution. How has that felt riding? Does it shove you into the tank or is it comfortable?
I am considering going totally flat through padding. A step up seat pan, thiiiin foam in the back passenger seat and really thick in the front.

Nice collection. I've contemplated a red seat myself, maybe a winter project just for kicks? I'm still trying to get my black seat right, but your mini write-up should help with my overall plan. Thanks.

It's not as steep as it looks, especially when you load the rear suspension. It feels a lot better being as low as possible.

I may have some nice red leather leftover & for sale! Winter is the best for projects, especially in the Midwest.

Thanks for the response about the seat. I am more confident in building a straight seat pan now. Red is not in the color scheme I am goin with but I hope you find a good home for it

^^ Speedo is from DimeCityCycles, great guys.
(get ready to drain your wallet, their prices are very reasonable..but they stock almost everything you need, a slippery slope!)

Spring carb cleaning!
Stock Air Box
2-2 exhaust no h-box

Co-working is sonic cleaning the body's for me.
Extracting PRESS-Fit Jet under rubber cap. (easier that breaking easy-outs)

-Turn nut to back out jet.

Press-Fit Jet under rubber cap came out clean
now I don't know if jet is re-usable??

The new #45 idle jet that I ordered is threaded. I think this is GL500 style.
?will this ever work? file off threads? reuse old jets? or just find the press fits?

I assume you probably got your carbs back together already, but you are going to have to re-use the OG jet. Good job on the extracting tool, I learned the hard way about breaking off an easy out off in the jet. I got another set of carbs and soaked them on CLR and them blasted them out with a power steamer and they are running great. I also settled for 90 and 130 jets. I will be rebuilding my exhaust so hopefully it doesn't mess with the jetting too much, because mi bike seems happy the way it is. I dig what you have done soo far with the CX.
