Had that problem, it said it was for LEDs but didnt flash just buzzed like crazy and almost set on fire!. Traced all my wiring, tested all the circuits and came back to the flasher, went and got the EP34 (it may have been the L model) and connected it, everything worked beautifully.
Lesson learned

I had the same problem except mine did set on fire for a moment. Opened it up and it was chard as hell. It was a Narva (Tridon's competition in Australia)
I bought a LED specific flasher off fleabay with a fuse in it. It was an "electronic" type, as in for electronics. Have to be careful some times.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring almost done and paint colours coming next.

Well the reg ep34 didnt work
That being said I took it out of the package and it all rattles loose inside so it may be a bad one. I will have to pic one up in Maine next time I am over.

I have a true LED flasher relay. Ran it on the 360 cafe bike.

If I can find it in the shed, you can have it.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring almost done and paint colours coming next.

Well thank you sir. That would be appreciated.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring almost done and paint colours coming next.

Well I went home at lunch, cause I thought I may have hooked up the flasher wrong tried it again, still nada, but the flasher has something lose inside when you shake it like a baby rattle so now I am not sure if it was faulty. I found one on Super bright LED's and may order it. 8 bucks. if Jussy can't find his that is. Returned the CT and got my 16 bucks back.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring almost done and paint colours coming next.

Ha. If it is only $8, it is cheaper than what mine will cost me to ship it.

That is true sir. So dont worry about yours. Going to try and finish the wiring today and then mount carbs and pipes and get her off the table for a fireup and maybe a test ride.

Hell yea mike way to work thru the wiring it sucks I know ! Get that bike on the road and have fun !

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Did I mention Wiring sucks??

Ok so spent a few hours last night with the meter and the test light, found a bad fuse killing my horn, neutral and oil light, not blown but not letting power through, swapped with a new one and bingo, they all work. So my high beam indicator is still not working, didn't get it completely chased down but I believe since the control is not for this CX that one on the pins is not lining up right as the current goes into the control and is not coming back out for the idiot light, I think once I double check I need to swap 2 wires and everything will work. Hurray, I didn't have to tear into the harness. So I am supposed to have 2-3 hours tonight with nothing to do but work on the bike so I may get the whole wiring done, then mount carbs and exaust and may just get a start up video!!! Wish me luck.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Did I mention Wiring sucks??

I sure hope too, I will need to stop and get a few beer though. I am out at home and it just won't be the same without a few brews.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Did I mention Wiring sucks??

Well. A couple of brews, just enough and I pulled the pins out of the switch. Moved em around and I got all the lights to work and i hooked up the original flasher unit and the signals even blink!!!! The po didnt check what wires went where and that was my issue. Only thing left is horn doesnt work. I wouldnt care but law says it has to work so I need to trace that. Almost there. Next is carbs on and exhaust and I will be riding this bitch down the road.

I just may get to do that soon! Got the front brake back in last night and all the headlight buttoned up. Everything flashes, honks lights up etc. Carbs are re-jetted with the POD jet kit from NZ and so once the pipes are back on I can roll her off the table and take a test ride, then just the last of the painting and pretting up. I'll try and get some pics up tonight.

Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring is done almost time to test ride??

For the first test ride, don't go any farther than you care to walk home...

Best of luck!
