Re: CX500 minor bob job - Forks sealed and table built, assembly soon.
Ha, well the old guy who will be riding it gets final say but it does look a bit off to me too. we'll see. I however will not tell the wife she is "right" that just is not a good idea LOL
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Forks sealed and table built, assembly soon.
Got some stuff done over the last few days. Nothing pic worthy but got some of the parts for wiring in place and coils cleaned up and reinstalled. I hope to get the front end on tonight, once that happens it will start to move a lot quicker, then paint, the Dad in law is coming to visit this weekend for my sons 9th birthday party so he can look at the paint and decide what he wants to do. I was watching TV ans saw 2-3 different blue and orange colour schemes that looked pretty cool so maybe we can put a blue on and accent with the orange. We'll see, depends on what we can get for rattle cans.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring YAY Hope I don't fry anything.
So, I was going to install the front end last night but realized putting the rad back and modding for the electric fan will be easier without forks in the way so I moved to wiring. Not real exciting but have some pics to put up as soon as I get my phone on some wifi. Replaced main fuse with blade fuse, it had the original replacement filiment, still in good shape and the spare in place, but blade fuses are at every gas station. I am not using the big ugly box on the triple tree where the original fuse box was so I replaced that with a blade fuse box and relocated. One nice plus is the factory harness is in excellent shape and it cleaned up well. So I am using it and just legthening and shortening bits as I go. Need to find a nice spot to hide the RR and starter solinode and I will be ready to wire in the fan as soon as the thermo switch arrives from China. I have a relay ready as well. Pics coming later.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Wiring YAY Hope I don't fry anything.
Thanks, I nromally wouldn;t have bothered with picks but I spent a lot of time getting that set up and weather proof so I took some pics. What I didn't mention was I filled it with exterior silocone on the bottom to keep all moister out and the top has an o-ring gasket so fuses should stay nice and dry. Cowel I made will be held on with Velcro and will hide it but easy as pie to get at if need be.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course
OK so worked a little last night was getting ready to bolt up the front engine mount and of course I can't find the 2 nuts and 2 bolts that go to it I bagged and labeled everything. So I got mad and just re-did a bicycle seat for a buddies kid. He is rebuilding an old school BMX and needed the seat recovered so I helped him out. Little does he know he now has to babysit for me ;D Anyway I hope I can find the damn baggie of nuts and bolts or find the right size ones in my spare parts bin. I need to mock up and make the fan hanger to finish running the wires. Also need to make a few brackets under the seat for the RR, signal flasher and Solinode as side covers and brackets are removed and binned.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course
Fastest way to find those parts is to buy new ones They'll pop right up as soon as you spend money to replace them. I'm pretty good for organizing my parts but I'm having a hard time lately finding all my parts for my CB, can be very frustrating.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course
Yep, I had everything stored in the corner and hung on the wall and I can't for the life of me find those damn bolts. The nuts I can replace easy, the bolts would likely be special order. But you are right, the minute I buy new ones I will find them LOL.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course
So I went home at lunch and looked one more time, found the bolts and nuts, under the coolant overflow tank, which was supposed to go in before the motor, so I have to unbolt the motor and slide that in then rebolt the motor, shit. On the bright side the coolant tank will be painted with some krylon Fusion Graphite so it isn't such and eye sore. I will just put s strip of tape down the side to see the full/empty lines and know what the coolant level is.
Re: CX500 minor bob job - Now Missing parts, of course
LOL thanks ADC that was what I was going to try first before completely removing the motor. Glad I caught it before I bolted and connected up the elec fan and rad etc.
