VOTE VOTE VOTE!

Bike builders / owners / buyers / stealers - post up your pics, bribes, nudie shots, gratuitous violence... whatever you think will win over the voting public.

will hopefully be getting a merged header with reverse cone, a gixxer steering damper, and drilled brake rotor done within the next few days or so.
and il try to get updated glam shots

Here is a link to my bikes build, I call it "The Repsol",
http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=15139.0
Garage built, home brewed, CB500T
Rebuilt engine
Full elec.ign.
upgraded coils.
cdi.
hotter plugs
open exhaust
upgraded suspension
stretched swing arm
chopped/rebraced rear frame.
etc
I started out with a mix of many ideas influenced by many builders and friends.
The end result was this, much unintentionaly as alot of what I did evolved as the bike progressed, the only thing I was sure of since the start was that I wanted sporty, low and sleek, with a somewhat minimilistic look, then after everything with the help of Brandon and Micah, the team honda repsol themed paint job was chosen, and I ended up with this, what I call a vintage interpretation of the Honda repsol race bike.

Hi guys,

I think this build represents in a nut shell what DTT is all about. This little 200 was built in its entirety on this forum with help and inspiration from its members. It does not push the envelope in any way, but I think it shows what one guy with with some imagination, very little experience and a lot of moral support can pull off.

EVERY THING on this build was done by hand with basic tools, Nothing was bought or farmed out. The paint, the seat, the motor re-build, the lacing of the wheels and mounting of tires. All of it! And all of it with help from you!! There are a few of you here who have been through the trenches with me on this build and know what I'm talking about.

I COULD have done this without this forum, but it would only be half done at this point!!

To all of you novice builders out there thinking, "Man, can I do this?" Yes you can!!!

This is what I started with last christmas;

Here is where we are! (I happen to have a good friend who is a pro photographer, don't hold it against me! ;D)

Its really a toss up between two of them for me... Hmmm, okay - I cast my vote.
Im basing it more on the completed process than the build thread, but I think its deserving.

Slice

Its funny that the 3 cafe bikes are actually pretty similar in color scheme etc.

been a very long time since Ive been here in dtt.
When I heard from loco that the drJ was up for an award I had to chime in and cast my vote.
I first met the great drJ years back when my 350 broke down on queen st years ago and guess who stoped to help me out. yep. the drJ. He even gave me sparkplug and my bike fired up.

thanks again drJ for helping a total stranger out of a jam. Im glad so see that dtt is doing well

Are you sure that was me? Must've caught me on a good day. Or was it so long ago that a sight of another 350 used to make my day. Now you can stand anywhere on Queen St. W., spit in any direction and hit a vintage bike.

As for my scooter up for BOTM, well I had nothing to do with it so hopefully someone truly deserving will win the award.

Perhaps one day I'll enter a true candidate.

I think it's funny that the Scooter got nominated but I really think it's insulting to the builders of these amazing bikes to have people voting for it. The DTT BOTM represents a lot hard work, time, and money. I'd be pretty offended if my bike were nominated and it turned into a big joke.

Just my 2 cents.

This. So much this.

Well, we can end this now then - if DrJ didn't in fact accept the nomination, then it actually shouldn't be included if we're following the rules to the letter....

oh goodness.. no offence taken at all!!... this scooter thing was ment to drive some discussion, comments, etc..etc..
It was ment to be a facetious and satorial “focus-reallocation” strategy to that section of the forum!..

A lot of effort goes into section of the forum, (not to mention the bikes that are nominated...), and I think it needs more focus and attention from our other DTT brothers to come see and recognize some of the quality work...

By having something utterly ridiculous nomintated and promoted, I was expecting this kind of attention, (a little more actually), and drive more votes...

its all marketing... ;D

Have a look everyone at the bikes and vote!!...

I want to see a much bigger turn out and voting numbers... This isnt Canadian municipial politics!!... This is DTTs Bike of the Month!!..

Vote people... vote!!

I think we should let it run its course... obviously there are some people who acutally like that scoot!...
If we close down the voting now, then it doesnt do any of the other bikes justice either...

Id hate to win BOTM, (not that Id ever could), because of a technicality... get more people out to vote!!

thats my 2 cents!

Stock scooter vs all this time and talent spent on these killer bikes... C'mon guys. No offense Doctah! ;)

Seeing as how I don't really like scooters and doubt any scooter I've ever seen could do "the ton" and only like older Triumph, BSA, Indian and Harley bobbers, I'm going with Hurley209's CB. Nice clean cafe racer to me. Killer job to all though.

A good group of bikes to choose from with a lot of variety. For me it came down to Hurley209 & diesel450 CB's. Both are killer bikes that i would love to own, Hurley's just being a bit more my style, that is all. Great job everyone! ;D

*GROAN*
I saw the nominations and the scooter made me chuckle... cast my vote for my choice cafe' bike to be on the banner only to then find out the scooter is in the lead! ::)

If the scooter wins, so be it. I get it, It is funny and hopefully will drive a few more people to the voting page, which we all want, it'd be nice to see 1000 voters here! Not unreasonable to ecxpect with almost 8000 registered.

I would say, that if the scooter wins, put the built bike that comes in second in the banner!

not only that.. its takes only 2 seconds to vote for a bike!!...

We have just about 8000 members, on average the BOTM gets about 200 votes in total.. thats not even 3%!!.. Im guessing DTT has an average of about 15 logged on members on the site at all times!!..

We need more bikes nominated for the award and more people voting!!..

If that scoot wins, and everyone has to stare at that thing for a MONTH..well.. thats what the non-voters get for not voting!!... mabe they'll come out and vote and we'll get a better turn out next month!!..

Imagine the conversation in the shout box?: "whats with the yellow milk crate on the banner man?"... "dude.. it got voted in becuase no one really voted for BTOM...".. " man I guess I should have voted eh?..." " yea dude.. you should have...."

CAmon guys, (and gals)... VOTE!!..
