Well, I have been the most vocal about anything being eligible for nominations, from store bought Thruxtons to milk crates full of parts, and that the voting masses would ultimately prevail.

That being said, this contest was never intended to become a platform for jokes or insincere participation. I'm taking the scooter out of the contest, not because it isn't a nice scooter, but because it was never intended to be a serious candidate for BOTM and was put in as a joke.

I'm giving you the people who's opinion I value more than any other on this topic a chance to change my mind - but again, keep in mind this nomination was made as a joke, to draw attention to the BOTM contest, not to turn the contest into a farce.

So, I'm going to wait till later this evening to take the scooter out - people have a few hours to mull it over. I'm also opening the option for people to change their votes, so if those who voted for the scooter did so as part of the big joke, but don't feel it actually stands heads and shoulders above all the other bikes in this month's contest want to shift your vote to another bike, do it now.

For better or worse, I yanked the scooter from the poll, so anyone who voted for it should be re-casting their votes. In case anyone missed my earlier statement on the matter, just scroll up a couple posts.

Like I've said 1000 times, any and all nominations are acceptable, so long as they have merit and are not intended purely as a joke. On top of that, if the nominee isn't interested in having their bike/project/pizza delivery scoot included in the contest, then that's the end of it. DrJ didn't express what I would consider wild enthusiasm at having the scooter included, and it was admittedly nominated to whip up interest in the contest and in good jolly fun by our resident prankster Noel (really, this guy cuts up NOS seats, and you're trusting him?), so those two factors combine to eliminate it from the contest.

Apologies to all the other participants for including it in the first place - should have left it at the side of the road (no pun intended, although I haven't seen it in person yet). I was following my own strict rules about including any and all nominations, but didn't consider the lack of seriousness behind this particular nominee.

If someone wants to nominate it again next month and it gets a serious second and acceptance from DrJ, then it can be our January BOTM should it receive the votes.

Hey guys I didn't mean to be uptight or anything, I actually thought it was really funny but I'm glad you decided to take it out.

Now let's see some more voting and amazing bikes!

wel I have to honestly say that Im disappointed that the little scoot was taken off. I dont know, nor do I care, what pretxt brought it on - joke or no joke. ( yes it was funny and certainly made this section of the forum much more amusing and worth visiting), or whatever but it certainly brought me back to DTT , (thanks to Leon), and renewed my interest this place.

Since I was last on here this place has grown with the Figher sections, Bobber sections, trackers and etc so I wasnt a bit surprised that a scooter actually got lots of votes. (I own and love my 68 Honda c65). My vote was an honest one and so Id guess a few of the other votes were as genuine as mine...

DRJ we met on queen st back in 2005 before my wife and I left Toronto... you had a golden cb350 back then I recall?.. not the one that I saw was nominated and lost here a few months back.

well.. if Leon claims that it was a ruse to get people to take an interest in this BOMT section well, he certainly did a good job, my hats off to you sir, I'll certainly come back to DTT more often but I no longer think I'll be voting in this section.

Im just disappointed the scoot is no longer in the running.

just my humble opinion

Just as a side note I have nothing against scooters!

My baby, a 1974 Rally 200.

I really appreciate the nomination from Kev and votes from others and I'm pissed that my Internet has been down all week! I would've loved to do a write up on the bike and compete, but I'm lucky to be at a relatives house with access at this point. And to be fair, I'm still not entirely finished with the build. Still.. Gah! Damn my luck!

I say, "Stick to your guns Tim!" ;D

If a scoot doesn't meet the criteria for BOTM, then it doesn't! There have been others before it and there'll be others after it! :)

Now... VOTE!!

There are a number of worthy candidates! 8) 8) 8)

diesel450, you've got my vote. I have a soft spot for little Hondas.

I'll tell ya though, It was hard, I sat here for around 10 minutes looking at the pictures of the bikes... lots of good stuff.

while we're kicking people out...

does it seem a little weird to anyone else that desmoBIBU is nominated and only has ten posts? not that his bike isn't amazing because it is, but...

We had this argument a while ago. Hard to quantify what the criteria should be. I think the membership polices this on its own pretty well. most of the winners have been at least reasonably active members.

That is a cool bike by the way!

I'm always a sucker for a red frame... that's what clinched the vote for me. Nice work, gentlemen!

I have a feeling we'll see that one nominated again. Get your interwebs sorted.

Also, I see that voting is closed. Congratulations, Hurley. You deserve it.

I really liked both DOHCs... Congrats Hurley. You had my vote!
As an aside, I was surprised to notice the 750 Hondamatic. I've always had a soft spot for those, this one just wasn't to my taste.

awesome so i won?cuz boy o boy there was some awesome bikes up there this month, very skillfully made bikes. But very cool, this just totally made my day, hell even my week, thanks a bunch guys! im very excited!

Of course you won........ you ride a Honda ::) ::) ::). Not that you didn't deserve it (very, very nice job) but I am starting to notice a trend here   . Five Honda winners in six months....... and one lone Yama hammer. Where are all the European bikes.......... just wondering ??? ??? ???.

Post em' up man! Cant vote for whats not there. Cant argue that the winners havent been some really beautiful bikes though. And really, the number of old Hondas being built here is simply far greater than other makes for whatever reason that may be. Its all in the numbers.

Way to go Josh!
