Well it depends on the country really, for example here in Mexico, you can get most any bike, I've seen everything from jaws to beemer, and old italian iron to new rice rockets and the like, but for example there's a ban on importing anything smaller than 500cc, although my bike was imported and it's a 400cc, so anything's possible if you have the money.

Thats why you see a lot of small displacement bikes, also, bikes are considered as cheap transportation (you can get a brand new honda CGL125 for something like 1200 dlls) and big bikes are too expensive to function with that in mind. On the other hand, middle to big displacement bikes (other than harleys) in the 70's and 80's where almost non existent. Yes, You can see big bikes in here but normally they are new bikes.

It's pretty much the same here in Colombia, in the coast theres actually mototaxis! those are small bikes, 125cc, 150cc that go around town and for 1/2 a dollar theyl take you anywhere in the city, for me has been difficoult to find nice vintage bikes, because of the same reason mensioned before, big CC bikes from the 80's down is really difficoult to find. there are many clubs of harleys, superbikes and big 2ble porpose bikes like the bmw GS1200, is full of those here, but from 1995 upwards.
