So... after a few rides over the past two days, I have determined that we do not have any signed picnic areas here. We have picnic areas in most of the parks I rode through and in all of the forest preserves.. however this information is kept secret from the general public and passers by. Please don't share this information. Like I said , it must be a secret... and rarely used picnic facilities will require fewer updates and maintenance . This will keep our tax expenditures low.
We do not have any scenery, so overlooks are not required.... Thus no "scenic overlook" signs. We do have some nice bluffs with views of lake Michigan... but no one knows that because there are not any signs for those either.
Along the toll ways, we do not have "rest area" signs. We don't have rest areas , here they are called Oasis' . They are an overpass, accessible from either direction, yet only via the toll way. They include fuel, several fast food joints , restrooms etc. There are signs for those... but they say "Oasis" , not "rest stop". Even if it were a "rest area" with a "rest area" sign, they are on the toll way... and I don't have any money for the tolls !
