Here is one for you guys, and belive it or not, but the vacuum seal is the only way to go on coffee!

This is exactly what I do. And my coffee of choice is Higher Ground Organic.

They are about 3 miles from my house and are just amazing people. Fair Trade, Organic, donate percentages of profit to environmental organizations, and most of all, it tastes amazing!!!!!

If any of you guys want some, let me know, I'll ship it to you....when I buy my bags it is still warm from the roaster....it's that fresh!

I'm drinking a cup RIGHT NOW!

Not a sales pitch, I just really love coffee.....and sweet iced tea. I'm southern, I can't help it!

For my rediculous daily intake of tea:

For my main vice, my Pininfarina designed LAVAZZA BLUE espresso machine. Currently resides in my office, it's quite the machine.

Let me know how much for a bag of Espresso shipped to me in Toronto. I'm always up for a new brew.

i like free coffee :) ha ha ha when we where in greece we got a frape' or some crap like that... it was good as hell man! but my 100% fav, greek coffee, some gooooood stuff!

I used to use the "I like my coffee like I like my women", too. Hot, Black and Sweet. I had to stop because my wife got offeneded 'cause she's not black. So now it's just I'll take mine black with a little sugar, Sugar. One of these days I'm gonna get myself in a heap of trouble.

Thanks Das. Guess I'll be taking my coffee out of the fridge. No wonder my morning coffee always tasted like fish ;D

No problem, troybilt. Enjoy your fish-free caffeine!

I'll grab you some Tim, just PM me an address!

I scored this tonight for FREE :D Krups Orchestro 892.

Anything is a good deal if it's free right? It's Euro 220v though, and is apparantly stuck in some self-cleaning mode. Will tinker and see if I can resurrect this $1000 fully-automatic espresso machine for under $100 ;)

Cool looking machine Tim. hope you can get it going. But what's up with all the mags under yer bed?? ;)

Not a huge fan of auto machines myself, but I'm sure there are some that do excellent coffee. Great machines if you're in an office environment or don't like to stuff around for a minute tamping the grouphead, for sure. I'm rockin a Sunbeam EM6910, got it as a combined 21st present from my Dad, Grandfather and brother. I used some money to buy a Sunbeam EM0480 grinder to go with it, not the best grinder but the best I could afford that wasn't utter crap.

Geez, I sound like a walking advertisement for Sunbeam! Words aside, heres a coffee and my setup in the background:

Anyway, my advice for the aspiring coffee drinker would be to get the best grinder you can afford (we're talking at least a Sunbeam EM0480 here, if not a Gaggia or Rancillio Rocko) and worry about the machine later, even if you have to get a french-press to start off with. Order green beans and roast them with an air-popper setup. You'll love it.

Cheers guys - boingk

The auto maker was just a whim (it was FREE :)). I have a Gaggia Baby at the office and 2 Saeco Aroma's at home, along with a Gaggia MDF grinder. Non-pressurized portafilters all around, with a 58mm tamper for the Gaggia and a 53 for the Saeco's.

I want to sell everything and buy a Rancilio Silvia ;)

Definitely not faulting you on grabbing a freebie, Tim! Awesome arrangement of gear you've got, mine runs more to the eclectic than anything else. Here goes:

Sunbeam EM6900 (Aforementioned 21st present, 2nd gen thermoblock technology...loving it)
Sunbeam EM4800 (Cheapest all-metal machine I could find when at uni, has pressurised grouphead)
Cona 8 cup syphon (Science experiment meets coffee, circa 1962. Worth >$150, bought for $8. Best long blacks ever!)
2 small plastic & glass 1 cup french presses (Camping use and quick single brews)
9 Bodum coffee glasses c.1985 (In previous photo. Again, worth a bit but bought for cheap...love them to death)

You havent had a long black until you've had one out of a syphon. Search Google Images for 'Cona' and 'coffee syphon' for some neat pictures. It really does look like a science experiment!

Cheers - boingk

I've been doing a lot of web research and shopping for espresso machines since reading all your posts. I've decided to save up for a Gaggia Titanium SS Super Automatic. My wife would like to have something that she doesn't have to put a lot of effort into learning to use.
Down the road I'd like to upgrade my semi-auto and grinder. Perhaps a Rancilio Silvia and a Baratza Virtuoso.

Coffee?-Tea?-espresso machines?-the 409abxe special grinder-roaster-taster-blaster in my office? Good Lord, what has this world come to. A double shot of Red Breast Irish whiskey, one ice cube, and out of the way Billy-boys to the next cafe'>bj

Whats all this coffee talk? I like beer not special beer, not fancy beer, just plain old cheap get me drunk after a shitty day at work beer.Natty does the trick most nites

French roast made in my French press. Ground fresh and made strong, black of course... why do you ask? Good espresso also. Do not store beans in the Refrigerator or freezer it is a very dry place and will dry out your beans, that's not a good thing.

50gary - although the fridge may be a 'dry' place because of the cool air temperature, what you really get is moisture forming inside the container and getting things wet.

You also want your coffee dry, not wet. A roasted bean loses between 15 and 20% of its weight when roasted; most of this is moisture. As such, it become extremely hygroscopic (wants to absorb water) and is best kept in a sealed airtight container such as a foil-pak or Glad bag.

Cheers - boingk
