Form V Function

If you do function with taste and neatly, the form will naturally follow.

I'm trying to think of anything on my XS that isn't there for a reason - only thing is (I think) the tax disc.

I chose nice looking parts, but they're all the right parts for the job. I cleaned things and polished them, but the engine is raw aluminum (no paint at all), the chrome bits came that way and keep them from rusting and the rest is powder coated black or polished aluminum.

Engine is now 750cc, race cam, rephased, ported head, titanium valves, taller 5th gear. Thing goes like stink and looks good doing it, but it 100% function.

and yet, according to Swival, you'll be passed on the out side. By an Sr500..... Weird huh...? my pet peeve, people that talk out of there ass....

Tim you hit it out of the park with that xs bravo.

I agree the correct tasteful mods will cover both bases. I wanted a rd400 swing arm but i couldnt afford one at the time. I bought a alum ninja swinger off ebay for 25 buck cut it into 4 hunks and rewelded it to the rd400 specs. Two birds with one stone badass alum swingarm, 1 1/2 inches longer to help keep the front end down for 25 bucks and its the only one in the world

this pic is right after i got it on the bike with the old little motor

Function is form but form is not always function.

I like how 3-4 off use took this thread and ran with it.... I can count on my feet and hands how many actually have motor "mods" here..... sometimes i'm just baffled.

I know, right? I swear... building a bike with no engine improvements is like buying a tractor and putting a body kit on it... WTF?

People are ignorant:

-I specifically built the tank to facilitate four things: hanging off, switching sides, pulling forward, and weight reduction

-It is geared down to maximize its useable power in a specific speed window

-It is nitrous injected to make it go faster

-It weighs nearly 50# less than stock

-The clip-ons have been lowered to facilitate a full tuck, behind the functional fairing

-The exhaust was cut down for weight reduction, then ceramic coated for heat control

-It is fully polished to reduce wind drag ( :D)

...........and somehow, strangely, the most hotly debated aspect of my bike is it's looks...
