Found a $300 CB550

I wanted to post a closeup of this because I think it looks cool. My welder decided it needs a frame under the seat in case someone decides to try and pick the bike up by the plastic fender section. The mock up is pretty much done. The tank, seat, lower rear fender, the foot pegs and the electronics trays all look stock. Most people will never have any idea how much is changed on this motorcycle. I'm going to take it back apart and Derek is going to fill in the tack welds. Then it goes to the powder coater and gets sand blasted and then I'll pick it up and use JB Weld filler to clean up a few imperfections and then back to powder coater. I've ended up having a productive summer. The rebuilt motor has been sitting wrapped in plastic for 2 years and when I get the frame back from powdercoat, everything get final installation.

the frame work looks good. My only caution would be to paint the frame before you put it all together and ride it for a while. I would be very surprised if you don't want to make some changes with brackets and mounts and such after you have lived with it. Make the changes and then have it powder coated.

That's probably good advice but I don't have that much patience. For everything that I changed, I didn't really change the stock locations. There are almost no brackets. They're all removed. The welder I'm working with is a hardcore motorcycle guy so I have a good set of second eyes on this. Gonna let it rip.

I'm getting close to doing wiring and I'm trying to get a wiring diagram going. There are a lot of generic ones out there but I'm hoping someone that has a similar list of components might have one done that will help get me closer.
My bike is a 77 CB550F
This is a list of my electronics going on to it.

This is my parts list:
M-Unit Blue
Mo.Unit ground distributor
Motoscope Pro with a pushbutton control
Motogadget 3 button left - 2 button right.
About 2006 Honda clutch and front brake controls with switches
Mo.lock NFC with Mo.Lock NFC wire harness
Oil pressure switch and rear brake switch
Rick's Rectifier
Charlie's Place electronic ignition
TST rear LED signals
Mo.Blase Pin front signals
mo.unit cable kit
Breakout Box
M Unit battery cable
Motogadget Speedo and air temperature units
LED headlight

I was going to send you my 550 bobber diagram until I saw your list of components . Mine won’t do you any good.

I forgot my GF birthday in March and she was pissed at me so I had to come up with a plan. My neighbor had an old bicycle from the 30s sitting in his yard rusting away so I asked him what he was going to do with it. He said take it if you want it so I did with the idea that I'd rebuild it for my GF. So I took a few weekends away from the Honda build to put this together after stripping it and getting it powder coated. I was only able to save the frame and fenders and everything else is new. Here are the before and after pictures.

I've had a bunch of stuff going on that pulled me away from working on this and I haven't touched it except to roll it in and out of the way in the garage. Finally after 2 months I'm back at it. I was nervous because when I cut down the fender it was a tight fit with the larger front tire and it looked way out of alignment and once it was painted I couldn't do any more bending because I'd crack the paint. It's not designed to work with 2 calipers so it took some bending before I gave it to my painter. Fortunately with the new grommets and screws it fit nicely. The proportions from cutting it down work and my painter did a great job. Honda used these fenders as a fork brace and the brackets are really heavy gauge steel. Mock up is officially done. Time to take it back apart and do a bit of finish welding and grinding and off to powder coat.

I wanted to take a last picture with the tank and the seat laid up to see how it all looks together before I take it back apart.

That tailpiece looks great, I've never seen one exactly like that, it looks good with that front fender

Just read through the whole build so far. Love seeing this thing come together! Great work and I'm excited to see it continue on!
