The Machines are taking over! This makes me wonder about new sportbikes with electronic throttles.

narconethree said:There is an overide installed on the car that would have cut the power if he was doing what he said he was.. he wasnt slamming the brakes it was like he was riding them...thats why they were burned. Its like driving around with your ebrake on. Hold the start button for 2 seconds and the car shuts off also.
Swagger said:What override is that...the one that's monitored adn actuated by the.....ecu?
Power button runs thru the ecu as well.....no worky
Swagger said:All hail the mighty ECU....it can't fail..........that wouldn't happen.........not to us........not to a toyota......
oh no.....never in the bajillion years.....
:
Mom's 08 doesn't seem to have that fucking override and when it decided it was time to ignore the throttle input altogether whilst maintaining a steady 58mph, there wasn't much she could do about it. Luckily she wasn't hurt and that hunk of shit is no longer in her driveway. Our experience is first hand...what's yours?
