Bought this bike for 650.00. Started to slowly change a few things that I didn't care for on the original bike.

Welcome to Club Tempter! And to DTT. Nice looking machine you have.

Thanks. Sorry I've not had time to submit more stuff here on my progress. I work up to 70 hrs. A week and ride 75 miles a day to and from work.

Anyway, here's some updates, I'm having major issues with the bike running super rich. I thought it was the cheap Emgo filter pods choking off the ports, so I modified them.

If you are running the side covers then why not run the stock airbox? You will have far less hassle.

Just an idea.

he had a rendezvous in france with suzuki since the Japanese honchos spoke no English, only Japanese and French. Therefore they saluted his stature by referring to him as Grand Rich(spoken with a french japanese accent). That's why it's the GR series. Pure dedication to the man himself.

The term tempter was a inside joke at suzuki after rich gave mr suzukis wife a dos of his charm on a visit, of course she couldnt resist....could you? years later tempers calmed and the title was born.

It all comes down to money. My stock air filter had no foam on it, just an empty wired mesh basket. A new one is easily 65.00 vs 20 for Emgos.

Low compression problem, leaking exhaust valves.

Here's an idea. I had the same situation with my xs650. The foam had mostly disintegrated. I cleaned the remaining foam off. went to the fabric store, bought some 3/8 - 1/2" foam for a few bucks and a couple tubes of an adhesive called Seal All. Cut the new foam to wrap around the framework, glued it together and also sealed the sides to the framework. Oiled them, put them back in their boxes, working fine.

$20 +

Cost of re-jetting
Cost of your labour or someone elses to re-jet

I know which is cheaper. :p

PS: Bike looks very clean and cool!

I really don't like the look of the side covers too much, I'm sort of thinking ahead and leaning towards a cafe seat with no side covers.

I'm looking to get rid of the side covers and going full cafe anyway, I see your point though. I've always been able to sort things out 99 percent of the time. Thanks for the kind words.
