Hi from Orange Country CA - What bike should I get?

Most of the time, its mid 80s. Depends on the place though. Some are 70s and older, some are 60s, etc...

sorry about the size, but here she is. not real pretty but shes reliable!

Oh man, thanks Tshaw!!! Unfortunately, well not really, I just purchased a '77 CB750 super sport last night! I'll post a pic tomorrow when I get it in the sun to take some pics.

It's in good shape but has an oil leak and the tail lights dont come on, but brake light and turn signals work so I'm sure it's an easy fix!

Hey any of you Local OC guys have a good mechanic you can recommend? I want to get the bike looked over by someone with experience before I do anything to it.

Thanks in advance!

I know some one in Santa Clarita!!!

Yeah but he knows what he is doing!! just buy the manual dont be scared , some one can probably give it to you threw a pdf file. ask around check out soch4,net some one can help there. Depending on how long that bike has sat you might want to tear her down any way to make sure all is well. atleast the top end.

Ah damn! Now I really wish he was closer! That's about a 2 hour ride from me.

I'm definitely on the hunt for the PDF...and I think I may see someone who has it over at the sohc4 site! Thanks so much for the tip!

You can always try craigslist. i see cb mechanic adds all day long there, my buddy had some dude come to his place and rebuild his carbs for him. Where exactly are you located any way?

Yeah I was actually looking there....but still can't seem to find a good 'garage mechanic' you know what I mean? I'm finding some shops in neighboring cities but would love a guy here in my hood. Which is Huntington Beach, CA (http://goo.gl/maps/fCR2). Which you think would be chock full of em!

Nope. i grew up in HB off huntington and utica! There is no vintage mechanics in the city that i know of. HB honda wont touch a bike that is 20 years or older based on parts are discontinued and hard to come buy. What do you want done just a tune up??

Well I started another thread that you can see here --> http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=22902.0
Basically it runs really rough at low idles and is kind of a beast to start plus has an oil leak that I plan to find this weekend. The consensus is the cam chain is loose, but I'm sure I could use a solid tune-up including valves adjusted and carbs redone.

Sounds like you will be rebuilding your carbs and probably tearring in to the engine and replacing your gaskets. If i where you i would do as much as you can yourself . gut the sucker and get her all tied up like she used to be. Did you get the shop manual yet ?

you know what you can call carpy 714-854-7264 he is in Anahiem. I still recommend you learning how to wrench on your own bike. My friend once told me if your bike brakes down are you going to be the clown stuck on the side of the road or are you going to be the guy who figures out why his bikes not starting, to get home. I live by this!!! Good luck brother

Yeah man you're totally right! And that's exactly how I want to be! Being able to fix it myself would be awesome! What I was really hoping for was to find a mechanic who works out of his garage or something that I could actually 'help' with stuff like rebuilding the carbs ya know? I have NO experience so figure it would be cool to learn from someone on the fly like that.

I'm definitely going to at least cruise by Carpy's shop sometime! I'm sure he charges a bazillion dollars for any work though.

We gotta get an OC ride together sometime this spring\summer!
