I kinda get what your saying, but can you explain a little more, sounds like this is important to know. and It would be about 3 inches tall and 3.5 inches wide. Thanks
I guess a good place to start would be the method you want to use to put this on the bike.
Kind of four general options,
1) all vinyl, seperate colors will be additional layers. This provides very true colors and a 7-10 yr outdoor life. On a bike, it would last until you took it off. Its what most graphics are on vehicles.
2) Screenprinted on either a solid or clear vinyl. These are expensive, you have to setup a silk screen for each color. So quantity is the only way to make this worthwhile
3) digitally printed on vinyl. This works for some stuff, but I try to stay away from it unless there is a ton of detail or its a photo. It needs to have a clear laminate over the top so the ink doesn't get worn off. The colors fade quickly compared to the other methods. This is how the full vehicle wraps are done.
4) paint it on using stencils, this is the best way as long as you can find the colors you want and are 100% that its the logo you want. It might not be a do it yourself project, depending on how comfortable you are with it.
So I think the best two are full vinyl, or painted on. cheapest will be vinyl.
If I blow up my 1st design to 3" height, it comes out to 7.5" long and the outline is .094" thick, thats about 3/32". That's pretty thin, but doable. Your outline looks thinner.
With the vinyl you would have to put the black down 1st, and it would be one solid piece. Then the silver down over that, thats where the size of the outline gets tricky. If its too small, your going to have a hard time keeping it consistent all the way around. To make it even harder a gas tank is a compound curve. The best way to handle this is to apply the silver to the black ahead of time on a light table, or a bright window. Then put them both on together. If you end up doing this yourself I can go into it more.
The same thing applies to laying down the stencils for paint, the black would go on 1st, the the next stencil for silver would go on. Its smaller and you wont be able to see the reveal of the out line very well.
I guess my question started when looking at my design and the .050" outline. Its tiny and I wouldn't want to send something like this out for someone to try and install themselves.
