Honda RS1000 - CB400F Mini Replica

The RC30 fairing has big vent holes on the sides that I didn't really like for this build, plus it was a weak spot that had caused the gel coat to crack. I decided to fill them in. I built some aluminum panels to fill the holes, and I'll glass these in when it gets warmer outside. Spring is coming, but daytime temps have still been in the -8C range.

I am crap at documenting progress. The summer passed but I managed to get the bike finished and on the road for the last week of September. I did all the bodywork and painting myself, with much advice and assistance from a friend of mine, and the manager of the paint supply house that I purchased all the paint product from. It was a nerve wracking process because the paint is ridiculously expensive, and I didn't want to screw anything up and have to spend even more money a second time. For a rookie effort it turned out rather well.

Great work! How has the bike turned out for you? Do you find yourself riding it and loving it?
The bike rides and handles really nicely. The suspension works well, the front brake is tremendous. It feels really well balanced and corners very neutral. The riding position is not as extreme as I thought it would be. I'm and old guy and I can ride it for an hour at a time without issue. I need to do some work with the throttle. Currently is has a stock throttle and the stock return spring on the carbs. That makes for a looonng travel and stiff throttle. My other 400 has a quick turn throttle and a lighter return spring and it makes a huge difference to how responsive the bike feels.
I only got the bike on the road in Sept 2024 and the riding season ends in Oct. I fell and fractured my knee over the winter so I haven't got the bike out on the road yet in 2025.
