How does this look? - Seat hump

Oh! We have a forum for this topic! lol...

So I was working with the design of my seat last night. I like the length of the base, but I need opinion on the hump. Does it complement the bike but stand out enough to say "hey I'm trying to be a cafe here"? (by the way it'll probably be made from steel.)

The hump will sit 1/2" lower but that's the basic design.

If that's the final position it far to high to flow with the tank

Yeah I'm going to lower it about an inch, it was also sitting weird in the photo. Does the shape make sense for the bike?

Those SR250s are great, but without cutting of the rear of the frame and mounting a flatter rail, they're tough to fit a cafe seat to...

That's interesting. I'm definitely not going that far into the project though, maybe someday.

I was looking for SR cafes and found this. It's really not bad for what it is. But I see they fit a cafe seat on it pretty well without chopping anything. Any opinions?

disclaimer:this is not supposed to be taken as sarcastic or snotty.
do you like it?yes it follows the shape of the tank and the height appears to be correct, but when you walk outside to stare at it or go for a ride is it going to make you happy?at the end of the day,or first thing in the morning before you ride, what do you think?its your bike make it yours

I think it looks a little too tall, which would be okay but you have kind of a peanut tank that swoops down in the rear. Plus the side covers have a sharp downward angle too so it looks kinda off.

This bike has the Yamaha "Special" styling which makes it more difficult, so two things you might consider before doing the seat to get the right look: Can the rear of the tank be raised a bit to make it more level? Maybe remove the side covers or make new ones without the slope? Overall you are on the right track. :D

THanks for the tips, I'll look in to it :)

If I raised the tank an inch and lowered the hump an inch would it make more sense in your opinion?

Dude, I think you need a different tank if you want something that's going to work with a cafe-style seat... Just my opinion.

I know in an ideal world I'd do that in a heartbeat but I cab barely borrow $20 from my folks to buy a sheet of metal. I'm literally working with hand tools and used cardboard.

Here a picture of a bike using that teardrop tank and a hump:

I think it's alright but a little big. Every other teardrop I see either has it too big or a VERY slight hump if any.

Here's another, again very large:
