I hope the story is as crazy as that wound. I'm guessing it involved a pack of bears and a sword fight with Bin Laden? :D

seriously though....i was pushing a 78 oldsmobile delta 88 that was lowered and on 22" wheels (stupid car we did at work) by the top of the tire and the wheel arch sliced me wide open. i severed 2 nerves and 3 veins.....38 stiches later....

Hang in there Crescent, they do heal with time. Got mine in a shop air compressor belt and pulley. Now when I flip people off, they just think I'm kidding, hahaha.

Aw man, glad to hear you are ok. I saw the title and thought it was gonna be work-related. Get all healed up sir.

Great fun reading thru all the old scar stories, sitting here with my morning cuppa, great way to start the day.

I think I need to work on my stories behind my scars, I like the idea of fighting a bear with a sword... because most of the stories behind the scars have the common thread- me doing something I knew better about

well on the positive side ( if there is one ) it looks as if you kept the base of the nail. Its when you pull the hole thing out that there can be complications later. Mainly your fingernail growing in sideways if at all because the base was contorted under the skin. it may look slightly nubby but glad its not worse man.
^This. So long as it doesn't get infected, it should grow back fine. You may loose a bit of feeling in that fingertip.
As said before, for a table saw nick, that's not to bad.

I sliced open my wrist with a "retractable safety" knife last August at work. The tendon in my wrist snapped in two in September, had surgery in October. Finally healed to ride for the first time in March. :D Bad photo I know.

wow, so happy it didn't take any more off! it's so easy to make those stupid little mistakes when you know exactly what you're doing. you get comfortable, and aren't as attentive as you might be if you were more unsure of what you're doing.

I love it when you give me too much credit g-mama. The wife would strongly oppose that portion of your statement, I'd wager. I'll still take the confidence boost though. Good for the ego!

KneeDragger, that one looks gnarly. I have had many a close call with a work issued "safety blade". I used to work for Home Depot years ago, and saw too many nasty cuts from those damn things.

Funny though, I thought I'd have seen alot more duct tape and super glue 'repairs' in this thread. Then again I guess even duct tape has it's limits.

I worked in a kitchen for 10 years. I was lucky not to have any serious run-ins with the knives, but I did manage to try to grill my hand. Was cleaning the charbroiler and the wire brush rolled under my hand. I was leaning on it pretty good and when it rolled under I was left with my hand holding my weight on top of the grill. Made a cool hiss sound, smoked a bit, and smelled terrible.

The darkness on the far right blister is where it started to really char the skin. Didn't even leave any scarring, just lost some sensitivity.

Were you using a push stick or a push some-of-the-way stick when you did that? ;D Just be glad you can still count to ten.

Yeah I used a push stick with my right hand, and attempted to pull the piece clear from the back as it came out. Since it was so short and narrow (pen blank) it had room to twist. The piece caught the back of the blade and got sucked toward the front along with the finger.
