We have a kill animal shelter in my very rural town. That shelter, do the the tireless work of a young girl, performed -0- kills this past year. She adopted out over 900 animals in that one year alone. That's unreal crazy. The girl deserves a medal. My oldest son used to volunteer at the shelter and every day he came home telling stories about abused and stray animals and how many they had to put to sleep. It changed his life forever.
Its the main reason he switched his undergrad from medicine to Veterinary medicine. He graduates this spring from Veterinary school.
Please read on: Recently temps have been near -0- and since the shelter has no heat, the water pipes froze. Without water it made it impossible to keep the animals alive. She sent out an innocent message for help on the Shelter's facebook page, the one she started and maintains herself. Its been her life line to help get animals adopted. Anyhow, the county commissioners felt the plea made them look bad and suspended her.
Currently there are over 100 animals being held at the shelter in danger. The least we can do is offer our signature. Anyone can sign. Please go to this page and if you are moved, you can make a difference by adding your signature:

Thanks again for stepping up guys. She attended a meeting this past Friday with the Commissioners and that's when they ask to take over the Facebook page. She declined and that's when they suspended her. There is a commission meeting monday night and I believe it's going to be a packed house. People here are pretty upset about how they are handling this.

This is the exact post she made on the shelters facebook page that the commissioners felt made them look bad.


" We are in need of several transporters this weekend for animals.
I know the weather is rough, but imagine if it's that hard for you, how rough it is on our outdoor kenneled dogs. Additionally, we have no heat in our indoor animal areas, intake, and indoor kennels, and this has caused our water to freeze making it nearly impossible to perform daily tasks requiring water for cleaning and watering. It is very cold, and we have several rescues stepping up and wanting to help move animals. For sure we have rescues lined up for 6 animals, and we need to move these dogs to get them to warmer homes and fosters. If you can help us with one of the transports, or are headed out of town, and wouldn't mind a furry companion, please see if you transport for us. this girl is a saint .... my 2 dogs have been rescued from kill shelters so this really hit close to home ....Signed and shared I hope lots more do the same

Done. Can't believe the county would rather side with the abusers of these animals by neglecting this facility than do the right thing- they were right about one thing, it does make them look bad, because it is bad.
