Left hand throttle CB350??? Not what you're thinking

Been Around the Block
First off I apologize if this is in the wrong section and if so please move it to the correct section.

So after battling severe Rheumatoid Arthritis for the past 10 years and seeing multiple doctors I found out my only real option to be in less/no pain is total wrist fusion. Now it wouldn't be a big problem if it wasn't my right wrist but it is. I know I'll have a lot of recovery to go through before I can even consider riding again but I want to start thinking down the road and what my options will be. I'm going to lose 100% of my up/down and side to side motion in my wrist, but I'll have the twist (as in twisting a door knob) motion as that is my arm twisting and not my wrist. I'll keep full range of motion in my fingers as well.

I have a 73' CB350G that's in my signature.

I was just wondering what everyone thought of about a switching my controls to the other side, as in throttle and brake to the left side and clutch to the right side, so I could still ride. Or I was even thinking about a thumb throttle like an ATV uses, I know it's definitely not as cool as a twist throttle, but didn't know how it would work or if it'd be comfortable enough to ride with either.

I'm open to any suggestions or ideas any one might have.

I've done various conversions for people with different issues, you'll get used to it but I wouldn't advise going out in rush hour traffic for several months
At least you won't need to 'unhook' your arm from bars (prevents bike theft when you see a hand permanently attached ;) )
Thumb throttle would probably be the easiest to do, you could possibly leave clutch where it is and do everything left handed?

Thanks, I know I'll eventually get used to it. I just wanted to start looking into my options now for when I am all better and able to ride. I'll only be losing the twisting motion that I'd need for the throttle. I'll still be able to grab the brake (or clutch if I moved it to the right side) with my right hand.

Most ATV / quads have the thumb throttle - go to your local shop and try them out. If you can work it, that would be the easiset conversion as pj has said.

Maybe have two clutches aswell? A foot controlled and normal hand positioned.
My grandpa has RA too, it has turned a simple restoration of his 1960 MGA into a long, process... Hopefully you can get back on the saddle! :)
