Let me see your tail section with lights

HerDeacon, any chance you can point me to a product page? All the ones I look up seem to fall short. I know exactly what I want, and it looks like you've come across it.

Cheers,
Chris

Here is the one I used on the KZ and I'm also using it in the MB5 without the lens (just the lights) - http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/8064370/Tail-Lights/3-3/4-in.-LED-Stop/Turn/Tail-Light

The regular bulb version is much cheaper and slightly larger: http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/4200185/Tail-Lights/4-1/2-in.-Stop/Turn/Tail/License-Light

What I like about the LED one is that it also has the license plate light in it as well. Here's a pic of the insides:

HEY, HEY, HEY!!! Stop giving away the secret source for cool products :) Don't even tell them about Canadian Tire...or Tim Horton's.

HerrDeacon,

Sorry for the slow reply. That's exactly what I was looking for. Your personal pics were the missing link. It never occurred to me that the lights and housing were separable.

Redwillissuperman,

I'm based in Maryland, but I did my undergrad at UWO... Tim's and I go way back. I still have a small fortune in CT bucks, so the secret is safe!

I finally got my rear section put together. I ordered some red LED light strips to add a second running light and brake light since this dinky little tail light doesnt put much out. Waiiting for some bad weather to sand and repaint everything and add a black stripe down the middle.

Did I list this already?

If so it's a reminder that rear lights don't have to be round but they should look like they belong there. There are lots of good LED lights available if you look around.

Damn, Shortround, you are prolific! How much time does it take for you to build a bike???

It depends. All the bikes in the photos have hand made fiberglass seats, and I painted them (except the green one). It takes me about 4 months to build a bike; or about 150 hours. I built the green one in just under 100 hours, but I didn't paint it, or rebuild the motor; but there was alot of frame an glass work. It's also the only running bike I've ever brought home (3800 miles on it) so it was in really great shape. I built it for the cafe racer shootout in the Rats Hole Bike Show. It lives in missouri now. In order they are: Scarlet, Shelby, Annabel, Trixie.

Now that's cool. Where did you get or how did you make that tail light???

I got it from this place - http://www.radiantz.com/

they are bendable and you can get them with turn signals built in (left or right side blink).
I used some two part glue to glue a thin sheet metal plate in side of the tail that I crudely formed and skuffed up. I used a two wire trailer connector so that the seat is still removable.
here are some more pics -

Nice on Rusnak - very neat - great paint aswell. In Aus its illegal to put the number plate where yours is - but i reckon it would look just as neat under that horizontal taillight.

Rusnak, that light is nice (so is the rest of the bike) does it have a brake light incorporated?. Think I'll use one on my T500 project.

Yep, it has a brake light.

Thanks for the complements

Shouldn't it have 3 wires to work as a brake light and tail light? I am rubbish at electrical so I could be talking a load of rot!

Awesome. That was what I wanted to do, but I could not figure out how to do it. Feel like doing a how to?
