Maritime's new GL - 2UP Distance eater

So using PID's Idea this is the plan. We'll see how the machine and I get along, the diamonds may be pushing it.

so I managed to get the old seat cover apart on the weekend and I am going to make a template from the bits and sew up a cover. my MIL is visiting and she's a better sewer than I am so may task her to help. Pics if it turns out good LOL.
 
Seat Attempt 1 was a bust. I need to get more vinyl and borrow a better machine. Mine did one good row then would all go to hell. while I wait for some piping and a chance to go buy more vinyl I had scored a testers paint set and am enameling the GL1000 badges we printed. Nice little kit for $6.99

Here is one done. It's good enough being repaired 5X. If I want it better I'll need a new set of covers.

The emblems look great. Are you attaching the foam directly to the seat? In the 80's I was a partner in a fiberglass company. We made seats and a bunch of other parts. The race only seats were most often foam glued or are attached by velcro to the seat. The street bikes normally had a separate fiberglass seat pan which was upholstered and then attached to the seat. Airtech calls these seat bases "upholstery pans". It makes creating a street seat a lot easier. Here's a picture of an Airtech CB750 upholstery pan to give you an idea.

I Thought about that but the seat was already covered and has the holes. Also the old foam and some riv nits would have made doing the pan a pain.
 
Fresh primer for tank lid and little hinge cover. Raised center part is the same width as the seat stripe, will be white with the rest blue and the same stripes

So weather or something is messing with Painting so I switched gears back to the seat. It's going much better minus the diamond so I'll put some pics of the direction it's going. I bought 3x what I needed for vinyl so if I screw stuff up I can re-do. It would be better with diamonds but will look fine as is.

Took it apart and tried doing the diamonds without quilting. It worked, gives the effect they just don't puff up. I can't actually attach it to the seat yet until I clear it but It's pretty decent.

Well the girl is covered in dust from winter house projects but weather is finally starting to cooperate. had a little humidity issue, was about 75% and got a little wrinkle. it's dropping below 50% this afternoon so wet sanded and will do a last coat.
