Mid-Ohio July 24-26, 2009

Saturday would be the best day, IMO. Sunday things are wrapping up, and many of the swap meet people will be packing up. Saturday will probably be the busiest, so get there early (as in 8am or so).

i have a little "project" to finish (ie my moto) before i decide in which capacity i will attend. i hope it's on a completed bike.
If i can only make one day, does anyone have a suggestion on what day that might be. i'm interested...kinda...in the swap meet. but i think moreso for the actual racing (jap/euro)

always remember... if your lookin for good deals, the last day of the swap meet is always the best. the sellers dont want to lug all that stuff home with them...

Planning on being there Sat and Sunday. Hoping to camp, weather permitting.

I'll be on my KLR, unless some other family members want to go, then it's the cage.

We are going to be camped at the Butler Mohican KOA.Last year was too much with the heat and noise camped in the field. Before we could camp in the infield, shade, flushers and the view of the track was great.I'll be there all weekend,my son just picked up a 72 CL 350 so I'll be huntin parts for his first cafe.

I bunch of us Kentucky guys are coming up. This'll be my first.

Question: I've got a shit-ton of Honda bikes/parts I'd like to sell, but I want to watch all the races and basically take it all in. I'm thinking that if I bring a bunch of stuff, I'll be sitting by it the whole weekend.

And I'm guessing you have to pay extra for a vendor's area or something?

Can anybody give me some insight?

Thanks

I'd suspect you'd be SOL in terms of getting a vendor spot at this stage of the game, but I've never been a vendor there, so can't say for certain. Best thing might be to call Mid-Ohio race course or the AMA.

Another alternative might be to try to set up in the parking area - I've seen people doing that, though I think they're basically doing it in the bed of a pickup truck. But, don't know how you're going to divide your time between watching your stuff and watching the races - they wouldn't be anywhere near each other!

Just booked our room. Decided to just go and have fun this year and bring stuff to sell next year.

Is there any DTT meetups or areas or anything?

Well just got back from our whirlwind tour of Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio. Lots of rain, tons of mud, a sort of controlled chaos with bikes, golf carts and pedestrians all trying to navigate their way through the place. Friday and Sunday were beautiful days, but Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday were different stories. The total ride was just a little more than 1000 miles round trip, and the bike performed flawlessly (Lee's CX500 got a flat, but was quickly fixed). Can't wait for next year!

woohoo those were awesome pix vince! looks like a lotta fun. your description of controlled chaos is about what i'd expect. Maybe i'll have to brave it next year

well, the photo of the CB750 with an IV validates my suspicion. when I entered that tent and oogled over the better than showroom perfect bikes, I couldn't help but notice some owner's eyeing me as if I were checking out their young daughters for possible consumption.
I suspected they didn't get ridden, but no gas in the tank? :-\ just like when seeing museum bikes I think, happily some examples remain for posterity but, it's sad the machine is condemned to an eternal lack of being ridden and enjoyed. the very reason it was created. I guess I should appreciate the wackyness of some over the top restoration experts but, I'd rather see it being ridden..... by one of their young daughters of course.

Vintage Days was awesome again, thanks for the great pics. I forgot my camera.

Did anyone participate in the Cafe Bike Show? I went on the 'Ride 'Em, Don't Hide 'Em', which was a bit of a waste. Instead of it being a 50 mile ride, it became a 20 mile ride, and the speed was too slow (too fast for 2nd gear, too slow for 3rd gear on my 305 SuperHawk). Plus, the lunch was so-so. All this for $15.00. I went over to the Cafe Bike Show afterwards, and it looked like everyone was having a really good time -- plus, it was under a tent and out of the rain!

I rode the 157 miles over on Sunday to avoid the rain. Last year definitely had more going on than this year, but still very cool. I saw Vince Lupo's Superhawk sitting across from the demo ride area as we were leaving, very nice looking.
