Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...unpolished tank pics
you guys are too kind... I am kind of impatient, and it shows in places. I really appreciate the kind words, though--it makes it feel like I am actually doing something.
As soon as I can make it run, I will post up a video. As yet the fuel lines and associated plumbing are not hooked up. I would like to get some outside shots as well, instead of crammed in front of the car.
I am going to polish up the tank at work tomorrow, and then will try to post the heretofore mentioned pics outside!
Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...unpolished tank pics
Maybe you should polish the sides and anodize the top.!!!! that is an awesome idea!!! that looks great man... let me know if you dig this idea... i have a ton of anodize powders... or maybe a candy over the polished would look trick
Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...unpolished tank pics
Hmm. I like the anodized idea, but polished aluminum is sooooo cool.
A good productive day today! I got the tank polished out pretty good. Then I wired the nitrous solenoids and switches, and routed and secured all the harnesses. I have an idea of how I want to mount the bottle. It is just kind of stuck in there for the sake of the pictures. I even got some outside shots. Let me know what you guys think!
How is that for spewing pictures! Still tons of odds and ends to finish up on this. i had forgotten how difficult it is to think fourth dimensionally to make everything fit with everything else. The main next project is plumbing. I have petcocks ordered (actually from an HD, lol) that should be here next week. Then I can finish up running the remaining hoses. The electrical part is done, so it should be operational soon!
Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...shiny stuff (pic heavy update)
It was awesome to see it outside. Looking at it in a corner of the garage is not really the same. Thanks for noticing the cap, Rich ;D! Oh, and the tank is 5 lbs. I have yet to weight the steel one to see if it did, in fact, lose weight. I am curious to know myself!
As far as the tank and how it feels, you can really get tucked in on it. This was part of the design in making it narrow. I added a little height to keep the capacity, but it doesn't feel so much like taking indescent liberties with a football now
I was most worried about my chin hitting the tank when laid out on it, but that shouldn't really be a concern now that I have tried it. Overall, I really like the narrower profile.
Here is a pic the Mrs. took today with me on it. Kind of a goofy angle--I hope I don't really have that monkey on a tricycle profile in real life!
Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...shiny stuff (pic heavy update)
ya knwo you are 100% right! i would not do anything to the tank, i would polish it up, and repolish the rear cowl... then let them naturally patenia (dull down) on their own... i think it owuld look trick... on your front fneder you thought of adding a strip of metal down the center? rivit that sucker on there and polish it... would tie it in a bit more... or even maybe just make a piece for the front of the fender... looks great!
Re: Modern cafe, "Project Kool-Aid"...shiny stuff (pic heavy update)
Thanks for all the niceties, fella's! I'm just glad it is all coming together...
Chi-town Joe: That's a great idea for the front fender. I am just now getting to that point. The strip would be easy, but I think a full fender would look even better. My real plan is to see if Chris will help me with a carbon fiber fender for weight, and then incorporate some of this into it!
